Hi, I've been looking around the web to find a media player for my taste, but all I could gain was more and more confusion. I read some threads (including the Asus vs. WD one) also in this forum. There's just way too much information for me...

First of all, I'm gonna use an external HDD (or some USB flash drives) with the unit. My archive mostly consists of divx and mkv movies. The network issues are irrelevant for me. I live in Turkey, so Netflix etc. aren't options that i could use. I'm not into internet radio and TV either.

I also use subtitles everytime i have company, so more eye-friendly subtitles (like Asus over WD) are really important.

One more thing, some more outputs would be really nice as I could connect the unit using a scart input. This is not a must-have though...

I have O!Play R1 and WD HD Live in mind, but may consider any other options as well. Especially ones that could look good in the lounge with admirable audio quality. Thanks in advance for the help, any suggestions would be well appreciated.

Best regards,
cd

If you are not interested in the networking capabilities you should look at the original WD TV: http://www.meritline.com/wd-tv-hd-me...--p-35549.aspx

Or you can get the Seagate FreeAgent Theater HD Media Player as well for $55 shipped: http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2152550

The Viewsonic VMP75 and Nixeus Fusion HD are from the same stable. My post here outlines some of the differences between the two players.
Will gladly answer any questions over at the Nixeus thread.
