I'm trying to setup NFS shares because regular shares plays my video choppy. I have B-rad firmware which is required.

So I got into the b-rad web front end by entering the ip address my wd-live. From there, I click on telnet client button and I am asked to log in. I put 'root' as username with the single looking qutation mark things as directed on this tutorial at step 10 http://mrlazy.wordpress.com/2009/08/...using-hanewin/
and I left password blank but I get login incorrect message. Do I need to login first before I can execute the command to turn on the cifs-interceptor as directed in step 3 of brads tutorial here: http://b-rad.cc/1041/wdlxtv-live-tip...res/#more-1041
How do I know what my login info is? I have passwords turned off on my PC and WDTV-live. I never had to enter a password on my wdlive either and auto login is enabled and I am still able to see my shares on my PC from my WDlive.

And yet here is a third tutorial that uses xmount to share NFS. http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/Sharing_from_Windows_7
I don't know how to use xmount though and though I've completed the first three steps I don't understand how to do the fourth step.

If anyone can help me complete one of these tutorials so I can enable NFS shares I'll be seriously stoked!

I see you posted at wdtv forums as well, but I'll try to help...

I have passwords turned off on my PC and WDTV-live. I never had to enter a password on my wdlive either and auto login is enabled and I am still able to see my shares on my PC from my WDlive.

Not the same password.

Here is the process I follow...

Verify your wdtv ip address (I configure mine manually to have a fixed IP address)
http://wiki.wdlxtv.com/Set_SSH_passw...hange_password

Go to start>run type "cmd" or go to start>all programs>accessories>Command Prompt
type telnet [WTDV-live-ip]
type root as login and press 'enter' in password (as in no password)

If you need to reset your password...
http://wdtvforum.com/main/index.php?...38393#msg38393

Do I need to login first before I can execute the command to turn on the cifs-interceptor
Yes.

FYI...I've tried both methods of NFS shares (successfully connected from my Synology) with no improvment in playback of high bitrate sections of BD rips. Others have been very successful. YMMV.

I have confirmed my WD-live ip address correctly already because I'm able to enter it into my webbrowser and get into my WDLXTV front end. I also have the IP setup statically. However when I open cmd prompt and I enter: telnet [192.168.1.75]
I get 'telnet' is not recodnized as internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Also when I try logging in from webbrrowser front end if I press the telnet icon and enter: root
the cursor moves down to the next line and displays # icon. I don't think this is right is it? Interestingly, if I enter Root with a capital R, I then get prompted to input password and I just click enter but then I get incorrect login info message. I get these same results when I tried using putty.

In Windows 7, telnet isn't enabled by default. Try:
1. Start
2. Control Panel
3. Programs And Features
4. Turn Windows features on or off
5. Check Telnet Client
6. Hit OK
I'm not at my Win7 PC, so I can't confirm that right now, but it should work.

Good luck,
Jim

Instead of using telnet I used putty to ssh into my WDLIVE with b-rad firmware. I was able to type "ls -al" and I get a list of files so I think that means I'm logged in right.

Using this tutorial I'm stuck on step 11:http://mrlazy.wordpress.com/2009/08/...using-hanewin/
In step 11 in putty I type xmount 192.168.1.64:/MOVIES MOVIES nfs
I got no response like I'm supposed to; Step 12 I type mount -t nfs in next step but I get no response when it was supposed to show me my files. I open NFS server and confirmed there were no entries in Mounts tab that this cmd was supposed to create. In haneWIN NFS Server I can see my /MOVIES file in exports tab. I clicked edit exports file and notepad comes up and shows E:\\MOVIES -name:MOVIES.
I have confirmed the file MOVIES file is in my root E directory in my PC so I don't know what's wrong. I also turned off windows firewall.
