I met with both Sigma Designs and Pulse-Eight (which works closely with XBMC) at CES, and I will just say that the efforts to port XBMC onto a Sigma platform are not being given up. There is still hope for something this year.

Hi Kraemer,

It is hard to believe that it has been over two years since Sigma made that announcement.

I don't think it is dead, I just think that it has a long gestation period. Here is what I wrote 22 months ago:

. . . and maybe I was a little optimistic.

Nobody is going to put resources into developing new products for a bubble market and it appears to me that new entries into the streamer market have slowed down since I got in. Has the market for stand-alone, local content streamers developed into a growth market over the past two years? It may have been niche to start, but if it continues to be niche that is not a good sign for development.

The bitterness of poor quality lasts long after the sweetness of the low price is forgotten . . . life is too short to drink bad wine
