Correct, full disc rip won't matter, only affects those who want main movie only rips.

Has anyone else experience DVDFab website having major problems yesterday, and being totally offline today?

AnyDVD Speed Menus

I have a couple of questions:

  1. Is anyone using them, and if so what are the pros & cons
  2. If you keep the original menus how does this impact the use of Speed Menus and how do Speed Menus impact the original menus
  3. What kind of problems have people encountered when using with:
    • XBMC
    • Mede8r
    • Other playback products

Thank you Bryan

I have only tested SpeedMenu on my PC with PowerDVD, basically brings you to the main movie playlist (and shows a list of all other playlists as well). I am not sure if it is actually altering the rip though or if it is something AnyDVD is doing on the fly in the background.

Cheers,
Damian

Thank you dbone.

Did you happen to keep the original menus or did you just go with the Speed Menus?

Thx

Not a good sign. The industry is making it harder and harder for individuals to want to buy their content.

Wow. So we now have web censorship being imposed by the MPAA?
This has the potential of spiraling out of control in this thread though....

Sorry, should have been a little more clear. This was with a physical disc in my drive and playing back with PowerDVD. That is why I didn't think AnyDVD actually altered the file if you ripped b/c for me I wasn't using a rip and obviously AnyDVD can't alter the actual disc..

Cheers,
Damian

Why don't you just use MakeMkv and skip the iso part? See if that works. Probably an issue somewhere in the iso.

....The broad injunction is unique in its scope, ordering several domain registrars to disable all domains associated with the DVDFab group. This includes DVDFab.com, DVDFab.net, DVDidle.com, 3d-videoconverters.com, 3dBluRay-ripper.com, Blu-Ray-ripper.us, Blu-Ray-Software.us, BluRayripper.jp, BluRaysbs3d.com, BluRaysoft.jp, CopyBiuRay.us, DVDFab.jp, DVDFab9.com and DVDvideosoft.jp....

Besides the domain names, DVDFab’s hosting providers are also ordered to stop servicing the company, as are other online services including Facebook, Twitter and Google+. Whether AACS has asked for the closure of DVDFab’s social media accounts is unclear, as they remain active for now.

Adding to DVDFab’s troubles, Judge Broderick also ordered several banks and payment providers to freeze or stop processing the company’s funds. This includes PayPal, Amazon Payments, Visa and MasterCard.

This doesn't sound good.

I never see the CPU being heavily utilized in either phase, network utilization is not high (~60 Mbps) I know with a file copy to the file server I can sustain around 800 Mbps. I know I am hitting a bottleneck, but I am having trouble identifying where it is.

It's not that gpu encoding harms the video, it's that the parameters they normally use are sub par since they are trying to bank on speed. If you were able to bump up the params, the speed ends up being negligible to CPU encoding.

My subs play all the way down to 0 Hz!!! It's so low you can't hear or feel anything.

Thank you for that. I said nothing about ripping it. The current ongoing discussion was about that movie so I just wanted to note something about it. It's highly annoying that Lionsgate does that. I make certain to not buy their movies for that reason.

Thank you for the clarification. With the news today about AACS and their success in the court room, it sounds like this may be a moot point. frown.gif

I don't have any other "Decoder" so MakeMKV can't copy the disc directly, I just get an error.

Huh? What does the error say? MakeMkv is a one stop solution. You shouldn't need anything else for it to work.

If you are only viewing rentals, and the audio quality is important, then buy instead of renting.

This crippling is all part of the studios' strategy to incent buying instead of renting. I buy most of my BDs on amazon Marketplace long after they have been released. So I am not paying anywhere near retail.

I am looking for where to download AnyDVD HD betas ... and am not able to find a link. I think I want to keep up with the latest builds.

Also, has anyone seen any statements from Slysoft on this? I am glad that I did not buy the "lifetime" subscription ....

edit: I'd bet that Slysoft's site is getting a lot of traffic! smile.gif

My Lifetime subscription paid itself off years ago. smile.gif

Especially at the 20% off I got it at. Which they are currently offering again right now.

I found it thanks. There I saw one post asking if we should be worried. Twenty-four views and no replies. Do you think Slysoft will have any comments on the DVDFab events? Is there anything different about Slysoft's position compared to DVDFab's that would leave them untouched?

The only difference I can see is their jurisdiction is different than DVDFab (China)
