The Divergent Series: Insurgent Playlist

The correct 3D playlist for retail steel box version is 765. 3D and Atmos.

721 playlist works for Netflix and Redbox rentals.

ImgBurn only does the full disk rip. With DVD Shrink you can go into re-author mode and rip just the main title and select audio/subtitle tracks to an .iso that plays as soon as it loads.
Advantage = only DVD.iso or MKV retain the chapter skip points.

Because he said vob to iso, I was assuming he has either a full movie rip or main movie rip video.ts folders. In either case imgburn will make the iso. As will shrink. If he has the disc, then i agree shrink is the easiest option assuming its unprotected. Not sure about shrinks cracking ability since its pretty long in the tooth. I have not known shrink to make a fully functioning dvd iso from anything other than an unaltered rip.

Since BluRay the studios lost interest in advancing DVD copy protection. I've been using Shrink regularly for the past year to rip TV series disks to .iso. Shrink has been able to crack all the latest TV series disks without issue.

Slysoft also has program to skrink BDs. Not sure what it's called but I remember trying it out and it worked fine in my few tests. But I swore off shrinking after doing it with DVDs in the early 2000's.

So are they doing this stuff with the 3D titles now? Typically there were only one or two titles to choose from with the 3D BDs. Unlike the hundreds that were listed on the 2D BD titles.

This is first title I have seen with this BS on a 3D title. There were 4 to choose from on my retail copy. Exact length just different order.

I use Wondershare video converter ultimate to make a 4-6 gigabyte mobile copy of all my movies. I mount the ISO and it takes about 20-25 minutes to create a 1080 P MP4 with 5.1 audio and burned in forced subs. This format works perfectly with Android as well as "those who drank the cool aid" apple products.

The irksome thing about that tool is that it only supports 5.1 AAC, not AC3 or DTS.

I was just discussing this with a buddy the other day. Do you know of a tool that will do AC3? It must be a licensing issue.

AC3? Isnt that what Dolby Surround was called when it came to Laserdisc? Is it still a current term?

You can still extract AC3 files from Dolby tracks. It's either embedded or "provided" as part of the codec's function. DTS provides a lossy subset one way and Dolby the other; I forget which is which.

HandBrake will pass thru both DTS and Dolby, or convert to AAC.

Dolby Surround at that time was for cinema only. The home equivalent was Pro Logic.

AC3 is another name for Dolby Digital, the first home 5.1 source. Dolby TrueHD sound tracks, on many of today's Blu-Rays, always include an AC3 track for compatibility with older equipment.

Yeah, not that it is needed probably but 721 is also what I used. Watched the show the other night and it played back fine. Rentals do not have 7.1 sound though - at least red box didn't.

They can't have 7.1 audio since the rental versions are using legacy audio instead of an advanced codec like the retail versions use.

Is that so it can play on anything or due to space on the disc? I never really understood since I see 7.1 on a few.

No, it is because the film is a Lions Gate release and they make it a habit of releasing an inferior product for the rental market. In addition to the multitude of fake playlists, they eliminate the HD audio on rental versions and only supply AC3. Another recent thing I found on the last couple of their releases is that they substantially decrease the movie's bitrate on the rental versions compared to the commercial release.

So they release an audio and visually inferior product to the rental market.

Did you know the Kahlua sold in Mexico is a different recipe (and IMO better) than the Kahlua exported to the U.S.?

100GB per movie. ugh. I'm struggling with the size of BD rips and managing all the hard drives on my machine to hold them. I only have about 50% of my BD's on the network. I think I am going to ride out the Blu Ray band wagon as long as I can. The UHD tv's do look impressive. People say the BD's look just like a 1080p tv on a UHD tv. I haven't seen one though.

The cynic in me looks at UHD as a side benefit for the industry to discourage what we do by stressing our storage and our bandwidth. The "market" did not need UHD, but the industry did as they needed another bright shiny object to sell. As with every other bump in resolution, seating distance and screen size are the deciding factors on whether humans will see a difference. Apple calls it Retina Display for a reason; it is a pixel density that matches (or just exceeds) our visual acuity. I have to wonder how many have the space to scale their seating distance/screen size to benefit from UHD. And what about the audio sweet spot? I struggled to balance my theater's audio and video.

I think UHD is a development that I will sit out. Like Atmos and the other height/width speaker configurations. Bridges too far, and unneeded ones at that.

every time i go to BJ's and look at the UHD sets, I always go right in front of them and stare, then I back away about 10 feet to where I normally watch in my living room. I can tell the difference but it's not as dramatic as when I am sitting right in front of the set. Is it enough to abandon my BD ripping/Dune setup I have? No. But an UHD monitor for the computer or videogaming might be really nice. It will take a while for gaming to reach UHD native res though.

The graphics horsepower for 4k gaming is insane. Short of a 3-way/4-way rig, it's not attainable with todays GPUs. I am about to move from 1920x1200 to 2560x1440 and one of the variable refresh rate technologies. I am quite happy with what I have now, so I expect to cr@p my pants with the next rig.

IMO, 4k gaming is in the exact same category as UHD.
