I'm honestly comfortable with a lot of hoops that have to be jumped through if it limits board spammers. They are among the worst.

I've done some quick searches and most of the information I find is several years old. Is MakeMKV + Handbrake still a good way to rip Blu-Rays and DVDs, or is there a better approach now? I'm using Windows 10.

Also, I tried using Handbrake to rip a DVD and all I got a scrambled video. Any idea why?
