Really...I can't find any "Roku forums" on the Roku site. Just reviews and blog. Sorry for being an idiot... frown.gif

The ROKU 2 is now (including 4.9) RGB 16-235 (RGB 0-255 was the initial firmware which was changed about 6 months after the ROKU 2 release).

Some people have reported issues on the ROKU forums with some (Onkyo plus some others) receivers incorrectly seeing RGB 0-255 with 5.1 content and RGB 16-235 with 2.0 content.

Thanks. Just changing between auto, standard and nonstandard, it seems my display is sensing properly for 16-235 in auto.

Got the update with the new firmware today for my 2 XS. Seems to work and the store is easier to use. Although I'm not sure if there is a "New Free" vs "New Paid" section. I guess I can always use the Roku app for that.

Annoyances:
New font is thin and hard to read compared to the old one.
Icons seem squeezed and possibly not the correct aspect ratio.
Home button from within an app now does a double-beep and returns to top level with left-side "My Channels" selected rather than the program you just left. Back button does the right thing if it works.

You can keep checking manual update. But it's just being rolled out gradually.

I understand that. I am wondering if there is an option to keep the original UI or if the new is forced...Still no new UI here...yet! wink.gif

All updates to the Rokus are forced, no way to avoid it. My Roku2's don't have the update either yet. As long as it works as well as the Roku 3, I'll be happy with it.

There may or may not temporarily be an option to return to the original (some people have reported seeing this) but it will go away and everyone will be forced to take the new one.

Yep, got the new UI on my LT last night (after forcing it to do a firmware check). Huge improvement, IMHO.

I got it last night on my Roku 2 XS--the main screen is an improvement, but the actual Netflix app seems the samer. Am I missing something??

It's not a Netflix app update. It's a Roku device update. All the existing apps should remain the same. Any updates to them, come from the services themselves, not Roku. wink.gif

...so now it's easier to subscribe to those free channels, many of which don't tell you in the Channel Store that they have monthly fees.

Does the Channel Store ever tell you that there are monthly fees? It just tells you what you have to pay to download a channel. It's no doubt up to the channel creator to put that in their description.

Does that still work with the new update? I had to power cycle the Roku 2 XS after the update as I was seeing some quite strange color space issues.

Some quick testing tonight after getting the update and doing the power cycle and I find my 55VT30 has to be set for non-standard (RGB 0 - 255) for all Roku 2 content. Auto doesn't work. Seems strange - but maybe an issue with the Roku / Onkyo receiver combination I am using. There have been previous reports of Roku / Onkyo issues.....

I can live with this if stable - but I had understood that the Roku 2 and 3 's were now outputting standard RGB (16-235).

I will check more tomorrow.

My XS 2 updated last night. I've had two freezes that required a power cycle. Haven't seen anyone else so I'll assume it's my issue.

New interface is good, overall no issues no freezes so far.
One minor annoyance: I have Russian IPTV channel "eTVNET" , until recently it was available via private channels.
As of few weeks ago Roku changed their policy regarding foreign language streaming content. As a result eTVNET channel is no longer available via private channel library but rather through developer install. Now to the issue, i can move the channel to the first row, and it would be there as long as i use roku, the next day that channel always returns to last position on the channel list... My guess is this is happening because it was installed via developer rout, but just wanted to see if some one had similar issue?

Does anyone have any troubleshooting tips for the iPhone app? It use to work fine but now it always says it can't find my Roku player, even when I manually input the IP address. I've checked all my router and network setting and nothing has changed, I can't figure it out and I don't know what to try next. Even tried un-linking/re-linking my Roku with my account and then deleting/re-downloading the app. I'm starting to miss being able to use the keyboard on my phone. The Smartglass app for my 360 works great, the remote app for my Apple TV works great, just can't figure out why the Roku remote app isn't working.

It sounds like you are savvy enough to have checked this, but it there any chance your iPhone logged on to a different network and that's why it can't see your Roku? I have two networks and this one gets me every once in a while.

Yea, I checked that. I'm just at a loss, it used to work great and now the app can't find my Roku. Nothing has changed network wise, no new routers or passwords or network names, haven't changed anything on my wife network in years. Everything I look at tells me it should be working but they just refuse to talk to each other. I may just try a third party app. There are a few that are only $.99 and they even have iPad versions. I really just want a keyboard for searches, I'm fine with using my Harmony remote for everything else.

That's too bad. I also use a combination of my URC remote for my theater along with the iPhone app. I agree that the keyboard is the best feature. What a timesaver!
