Hey, we can use each other to justify our hobby to our significant others . Mine knows by now that I'm definitely not monogamous when it comes to any home theater gear . I still have the Boxee for her and the kids I've promised not to touch as they find it easy and pleasing to use.

I am going to wait and see how it turns out. I am afraid it may turn out to be a dud. So please remove me from the list.
I may end up with an oppo bdp-93

I'm returning my Oppo BDP-93 to Amazon tomorrow. Had it less than a month, so just lost out on return shipping as part of the refund. The Oppo is great, but if all you want is a media streamer for 3D BD-ISO playback, I think the HD900B is worth it for only 40% of what the BDP-93 is going to cost you.

Not bad Leo. By my count, you already have 6 risk-takers (a.k.a. guinea pigs), which is more than the original list I sent you. Agree w/Tom that there should be more people interested once the original group starts posting impressions.

This thread is even showing up as the second search result if you Google "HiMedia HD900B". So, Leo, we're doing you and HiMedia a favor here it seems .

On a related 3D note, I see the eGreat R200S is now available (just $188 shipped from HK if someone wants to take a big risk as so little is known about it). Lots of good photos of the unit in that 2nd link. Looks interesting as well, with the same Realtek 1186 chip, so will keep an eye on it; official page here. Looks like there will be a R300 shortly as well. But, if memory serves, isn't eGreat the same company that used Popcorn Hour firmware for some of its players and in one case even 'stole' Dune firmware?

I'm interested in this player, price/performance seems like a deal.

2 things:

1. Android marketplace, I'm looking for a player that I can load the Pandora app on as that is something that will enable me to talk my wife in to the purchase. Will this be possible?

2. Can this player be controlled via HTTP commands? I use a home automation app (iRule) and would love to be able to control the device this way. I know the Dune players and Popcorn hours can be controlled this way. Alternatively, is the IR protocol commands available in a file? Avoiding having to tediously learn each IR commands manually would be helpful, though HTTP/IP control would be ideal.

Thanks!

I ordered the Himedia 900B last week from eBay...wish I saw the group buy earlier.

Also interested if a jukebox interface is going to be released for the 900B.

As I wrote before, the new firmware enables Android. They are working fast, very fast let's say... Android market is developing. All the apps you are used to, will work, the developers will make them work on this device.

It seems Android support so far on any media streamer isn't mature enough to be useful. Even on GoogleTV 2.0, Scott from SatelliteGuys.us posted he hasn't been impressed with the latest beta he has been testing. May be why the new GTV 2.0 hardware is also delayed.

Not surprised tbh. I have a Transformer tablet that I frequently connect to my TV to get the "Android experience", but definitely not the same as having on a dedicated media player to be controlled via a remote or other

It's almost your 8pm EST cut-off Leo, hope you're packing up our players for shipment tomorrow . Can't wait to try the HD900B out. Wondering if we should start a new thread in a couple days or just continue here.
