I have been using VOB2MEG to extract single MPEG files from our DVD collection and have found a few that don't extract correctly. I use other tools such as AnyDVD to decrypt and rip to an ISO. We used to play that directly from ISOs but now are moving to a single file approach (while keeping ISOs as backup) for convenience.
Today I have been playing around with "Toy Story 2". I have the ISO and original DVD and it plays fine. I can use HandBrake to convert to an MP4 that plays fine. I can use MakeMKV and remux into an MKV and it plays just fine. If I use VOB2MPEG on the very same media and it will have issues with skipping ahead in certain scenes before the scene is over. This also happens with DVDShrink.
My objective is to have an unaltered single file for playback for all of our movies. I am using MCE which is unfriendly to other formats such as MKV so MPEG is the preferred solution at least for DVDs. VOB2MPEG is the perfect tool... if it were to work with all titles. I believe the other tests I have done demonstrate that VOB2MPEG has bugs, but I can't find anyone else reporting similar issues with it which is highly suspect in my opinion. So this post is half poll to understand if you have had or haven't had similar issues with VOB2MPEG skipping portions of scenes, and also to solicit alternate approaches to my problem.
Thanks for any help with this. I apologize for the long post. I hate long posts, and couldn't figure out how to keep this one shorter.
