I have a Dune Prime 3.0. Does the Smart series have a similar firmware of the Prime? Are they almost identical and do they perform similar or is one better then the other? I'm asking because my room mate wants to buy a media player and for some reason is stuck on DUNE only. So i'm trying to help him with which player to get. If they Smart series has a stable firmware like the Prime, then I guess I would suggest those models.

No audio or photo improvements yet again. No h.264 over rtsp. New apps cannot be hidden. New weather app does not have configurable units and will not use the players units.

Hey! Deaf people at Dune! Improve the basic media playing features of the product before adding Unnecessary social and web stuff!!

Dune players are the best hybrid players, and they hold up well; I write from experience. I've owned many NMT's and media streamers, 3 popcorn hours/syabas players, 4 or 5 KiSS/Linksys boxes, and the HDi Dunes are by far the best. I own SEVEN of them now - all major models except the Duo and Max models (I prefer the lower cost smaller SMART models) : Two V2 HD Centers with gigabit ethernet, one BD prime v1.0 with native wireless (rare) (had two of these, but one died last year after almost 4 years of use), and one HD Base V3 and one BD Prime V3, and two smart players (B1 and D1) . Oddly enough, I have the greatest affinity for the older models - the two HD Center units, as they have solid dedicated gigabit ethernet and have the nicest looking "hi Fi" cases. The newest firmware is pretty nice, I highly recommend it. I also figured out that the Memorex MVBD2511 Bluray player is the exact same power supply as in the BD prime V1 player, and it has allowed my oldest players to have two replacement power supplies. I even still have a spare.... Dunes are great--highly recommended.

Strange, my HD DUO had an upgrade to this firmware when I fired up the home theater, then right after updating, got a message saying that 120608_1420_beta was available. Haven't been able to find a changelog, but I went ahead and updated. Main thing I'm looking for is improved MP4 playback. (specifically better FF and Rew)

Can't hide, don't want FACEBOOK, YOUTUBE, etc.
Back to 120202 for me.

Hello, Dune, thanks for adding useless crap, and not adding useful stuff.
Where is "AUTO" for audio channels decoded instead of 'Stereo, 5.1, 7.1' ???

I'll stop ripping my BDs when I can put them in and watch the movie without trailers, warnings, cutesy menus...

Since you mention "useful stuff," I vote again for native frame-rate resolution. . . . which even my ancient TViX M-6500A has.

But Dune has long since stopped listening. (So did DViCo.)

Edited to correct "frame-rate" to "resolution." (D'oh!)

I dont use a jukebox app, I just use raw directories with well-named files, but people comment well on Yandis, and Zappiti to name a couple....

Zappiti is pretty simple and easy to use. That's what I am using right now.

If you own an iPad then 10Muse is by far the best Jukebox there is. I have given up on all others since I own an iPad.
