Thanks, I'm afraid of makemkv not handling subs properly if I only pick the forced ones. Maybe I'll just pick all subs and live without forced subs working for now in hopes of a fw fix soon.

Even if it doesn't do it correctly you can always fix it with MKVmerge. I'm hoping it can be fixed as well eventually but I'm not counting on it.

Anyone here use my movies? I'm trying to set it up but I'm a little confused. I use it on my android so I thought I would try it out on mede8er and went ahead and installed my movies on my windows pc.

I set the option in my movies to create data for mede8er but I don't see a place to point to my nas directory to store the data. What am I missing here? I'm starting to think maybe I download the wrong version of my movies.

I thought my movies would create the data on my nas and the mede8er would scan those folders and display the data. Is that not how it works?

when you add a movie in Mymovies you select the folder where it is located (locally or on a NAS… I'm using a Synology 1812+ and all works well) and the metadata is automatically added to that folder wherever it resides and only the metadata that you requested through the "options" section. Apparently, the latest download is 1080P resolution to the about.jpg files and you no longer have to scan from your streamer for new movies as they will automatically be added (although I haven't checked of that yet).

honestly, I find mymovies to be the simplest one by far. I know, it doesn't give you the option to choose from multiple background artwork but I just use DVDfab to rip the movie and whatever soundtrack, subtitles I want, it is usually automatically added to mymovies and then I just select the folder where it resides and bingo… All done. Some people want to tinker too much. I just want to enjoy my movies with a quality interface done as simply and professionally as possible. They have great forums and a wiki, user guides as well. Not to mention it looks like they will be adding remote control function like they do for the Dunes with the new firmware and hopefully series support will come with that firmware.

Thanks, I just tried both and it turns out I like YAMJ better. Thanks for helping me, it allowed me to try both options.

FYI : this is still limited to movies...reading this post and what they want to achieve with their new "aggregated jukebox", may be TV series will come in a near future.

Yeah, figured unless someone specifically states TV show support it only applies to movies. Hopefully proper TV show support will arrive soon. To me that is the one big negative

How do I get this view in Mede8er when using YAMJ?

http://www.mede8er.com/images/Y2M_USER_GUIDE_v2/Mede8er_Movie_JukeBox.jpg

I figured out I had to scan the folder for this data to show up. Now when I select a movie the info is display with the mini artwork but there still isn't a background image. Any idea why?

Also, is anyone here using an Unraid server with their Mede8er? Are you using NFS? I can't figure out how to set the file path properly.

Otherwise my Mede8er is working perfectly with my Unraid server. Not sure if I should even worry about using NFS.

I am also using MyMovies with a Synology NAS and it works much better than Y2M. The current main advantage is that you can automate the process so that (as long as your PC is turned on) MyMovies monitors your NAS folder(s) and automatically creates the metadata etc. In the future, I am very much loking forward to the MyMovies iPad app becoming able to launch movies on the Mede8er - already announced in development.

A question for MyMovies users: I cannot seem to get MyMovies to automate also the "Scan" function. It says on the MyMovies website that I should no longer have to manually SCAN my NAS folders in my streamer interface, but so far this does not seem to work?

You need to turn on the folder monitoring option for that and set it to "tray" (you will find that in the options menu of collection management).

I am using unRAID with my MED600X3D. I'm only using NFS for 3D. To set up NFS, you have to go to the Shares section of the administrator and enter the local IP address of your mede8er along with the read/write privileges in parentheses - such as 192.168.1.100(ro). I believe you can use an asterisk to export the share to ALL machines.

You may have to restart the Mede8er for it to pick up the NFS share. NFS was the only way I could get 3D to play smoothly.

One thing I noticed with NFS on the Mede8er though is that it doesn't seem to allow me to set a bookmark to the top level folder - has anyone experienced this? Through SMB it does.

Correct - using NFS you cannot make a Favlink to the NFS mount itself so you need to make the Favlink to one folder level below.

Hey guys, happy to see a pretty well kept thread and anxious that I finally took the plunge and bought this device. I had popcorn devices for years but the lack of updates and support for the c-200 drove me away from those guys. I did however like the fact that I could install some "3rd" party apps through its community installer. I was even able to talk to my hdhomerun and did like that ability. I guess my point is if you guys have any idea if there is anything similar for the med devices?? Any ideas on getting hdhomerun running with it? I also have a DS1512+ NAS and didn't know what you guys prefer with this setup on just overall performance, style and ease. I have heard mixed reviews and reading through these pages gives me an idea of opinions but I would again like setup ideas (movie scanner, etc..) that you guys would recommend for my setup. BTW : I currently am using the DS512+ to pipe things via PLEX. If I am just going to play directly from it, is SMB recommended?

Thanks again for the time and I look forward to hopefully helping people out in the future, at least maybe recommending Mede8er devices over what I consider a very bad (non existent) supported EX product.

Respectfully,
The Voice Over

Thanks for the info, i'll probably stick with SMB for now since its working just fine.

Any tips on how to organize folders? or even using unRAIDS split level? I've reverted to just copying direclty to disk1 and disk2 in order to split things up.

I currenlty have a movies directory with a folder for each movie in it. I'm trying to decide if I want to split it up into genre or boxsets.

Development is complete on the new NET API in X3D V2 firmware and this has been exposed to external developers and we should start seeing 3rd party IPad / Android Apps available on the App Stores in the near future.

The NET API is hosted within a special dev group on our forum and we welcome and encourage any developer to join the group and to start developing Apps for any use whether it be PC / Mac / iPad / Android / Win 8 Tablets etc.

Anybody that is interested should just register at http://www.mede8erforum.com and send an email to technical@mede8er.com with his Mede8er Forum Name and a request to join the NET API group.

1. Can 1000X3D log on Win 7 user accounts that do not have password?

2. Can 1000X3D decode WMA (Pro) audio?

3. For playback over network, is Samba or NFS better? or each has it pro and cons?

4. Does Win 7 have a built in NFS or it requires a 3rd party plug-in?

Thanks.

1. Can 1000X3D log on Win 7 user accounts that do not have password? Yes - standard Guest account

2. Can 1000X3D decode WMA (Pro) audio? Not supported

3. For playback over network, is Samba or NFS better? or each has it pro and cons? NFS is better on the X3D Series but only required for 3D BDISO

4. Does Win 7 have a built in NFS or it requires a 3rd party plug-in? To my knowledge it does not have and the recommended 3rd party NFS server is HaneWIN and only drawback is that HaneWIN is a Server ONLY and does not have any write functionality so you will loose some X3D functionality like 'Scan' 'Locked Folder' ' Watched Indicator' - Scan and Folder Lock could be done on Samba if required.
