I am currently using a Macbook Air, with an Airport Extreme, with a connected shared hard drive, and a LG TV that is DLNA capable. I tried two DLNA server apps, PS3 and TVMobili. Both cant seem to recognize my shared hard drive. Only way i can view movies from my shared hard drive is to manually transfer the file i want to view to my Macbook Air. I prefer not to do it this way. Can anyone help?

Did you share the hard drive using smb? You might want to check that. If that doesn't work then mount the hard drive on the MacBook Air and run the DLNA from there. You can try mounting the drive via SMB if AFP doesn't work. This should work. I have done it in the past.

Pardon my ignorance. I have no clue what SMB and AFP mean. I used the Airport Utility to enable file sharing with my external hard drive that is connected to the Airport Extreme.

SMB
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Server_Message_Block

AFP
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Filing_Protocol

Or in lamest terms: Windows Shares = SMB or Samba, and Apple Shares = AFP (Apple Filing Protocol)

Media Server: UnRaid Server: 15TB of storage and growing :).
