I am looking at getting a tablet to act as a remote control. Not sure what the best one is in general, but my main question here:

Is there a way of running a Dune Player (I have the HDI Max thing) through a tablet? I know they have a remote app, but that needs the TV on. Is there a way to get the interface onto a tablet? if so how and which one?

If anyone has any suggestions of iPad v the rest for remote control purposes that'd be appreciated too.

Hi Peter,

I assume you want this for music streaming, since streaming video means the TV is already on, and you say you don't want this ?

iRule may be able to do it. I suggest you ask in the iRule thread.

I use the Nexus 7 tablet ($199) as a dedicated remote now for my Control4, DirecTV, Roku, and Dune setup and everything works great. The My Movies app is a good remote and there are also 1-2 other Dune remote control dedicated apps on the Android Market. Good luck and enjoy.
