Same here, had the C200 at launch. Not exactly a product I hope the A400 can follow in its footsteps lol

I would not call my C200 stable either. I still have to pause/play a m2ts to stop it from stuttering. I don't have the latest firmware because right after it came out they said wait a week or two for a better version. I have still not heard anything about a better version.

I have no stuttering issues with my C200, but I also only play BD ISOs on it. It has been rock solid with my BD ISOs. I got it in December 2009 and the following month they had a firmware out that allowed me to play my BD ISOs without issue. I didn't have the C200 at launch like I will with the A400. But I do expect them to squash most of the bugs fairly quickly on the A400. If not, I have other media players to use. I plan on keeping my A400 unless it has some kind of hardware issue and then I would only be exchanging it.

The m2ts files are from BD ISO.

The problem with that is by the time you test it its going to be out dated when you release it, I have to say given all the players it takes about a year to become a stable player if they are built on a new sdk/chipset, it took the realtek 1186 players about a year to finally get stable and fix bugs, took the c200 about a year, the a100 again was about a year. The only exception to that was dune as they used the same sdk and firmware across all players but as we saw with the recent tv 103 launch they are now buggy also and I bet will take a year.

But i have low standards I have owned almost every brand of player and nothing will ever be as bad as the nixeus fusion xs launch, its going on a year and still only have gotten two firmwares that fixed nothing but make it worse lol.

Yeah, because the issues with the 300 series were fixed so fast...

I hope that the A400 will play BR 3d iso files as claimed. That is the main reason I will upgrade from the C200. Anyone who gets one of these, please test that first.smile.gif I have grown tired of my htpc since XBMC will never play BR 3d iso's.

How will you be playing (streaming over a network or attached storage)?

OK, so hopefully there should be minimal if any issues. The 3D BR players out there are having issues playing back 3D Blu rays over SMB (I have no issue with the occasional quick drop playing over NFS)

Won't the ethernet in the A-400 be much faster than the "gigabit" equipped PCH players of the past? You might even get 150mb/s (sustained) and that surely is enough.

Not over smb (it is a limitation of the smb protocol used on the current players). Most players (even gigE ones) top out around 70Mbps over smb (where a 3D Blu Ray can top 90 Mbps)

So far reports are saying bdmv over samba on the A400 are working, just not iso or samba, two people had simialr results just need more people to test.

That won't effect BR 3d iso's if connected directly will it? I have no need to stream movies, but I do want to be able to play them thru the A400 as all of my 3d movies are saved as iso's on two nas units.

I assume the A400 will be 1.4a compliant in order to play 3d.

I never owned a 300 series box. But with my 200 series boxes I owned(C200 and A200), I had a very stable firmware in January 2010. At least stable for my use which is mostly playing BD ISOs and a few MKVs and ts files. It didn't take anywhere close to a year to get a stable firmware. At least for the way I used the boxes. The complaint I had with the A200 was the fan. Which is why I sold it.

I've owned hundreds of electronic devices this century and I've never owned a device that was perfect on release. There is always a need for a firmware/software update to fix some issues. Or the bugs stay there and are never fixed. This, unfortunately, is the norm.

So when can we place an order. I have tried at their site but it shows out of stock and will not allow me to place an order. I ordered my C200 in the first batch last time. Hoping we can get an order in before Christmas, at least.

I know about your a200! I bought it! :-)
Once I ripped the fan out and placed an Enzo CPU cooler on it, it became as quiet as a church mouse! Still have it...

Can it stream using ftp? That would be faster. In any case, I thought the cpu was the limiting factor with the network speed, at least that is what they used to say over at the C200 threads when people were wondering why they were only getting 70 mb/s.

From stock interface no but all it would take is someone compile curlftps and then mount and run it through telnet then let the stock interface pick it up. Second it was not the CPU that was total limiting factor its a combination of the CPU and the bus channel it runs across, like the A300 can hit 200mb/s but tops out as thats as fast as the bus will let it.

oh no - i 'multi-task'. Though I am getting ready to leave in 7 minutes. I don't know if I'll have time to play with it tonight since I don't think I want to get myself frustrated with it on a Monday....!!

I guess mine won't show up until tomorrow. It's been sitting in Richmond since 2AM this morning, less than 100 miles away.

I was curious how the A400 will be able to use an SSD. I pulled my 60GB Intel SSD out of the box last night. The bracket that came with it and also a bracket I have from another SSD won't line the connecters up in the same spot as a 3.5" hard drive. So I'm not sure how I'll be able to use it in the A400. I thought I read that you needed to use an adapter with a 2.5" drive, but the adpaters I have just don't line up the connectors in the same spot.
