^ thanks, this is SO frustrating. You allow read and write privileges only to find the share cannot be changed.

Arggghhh.

Right, that's basically what it's telling me to do, correct? But then, for the inevitable changes that will have to be made, what is my recourse using toolbox.

I simply never anticipated having this issue and it's driving f'n crazy.

thanks for the advice.

Last post on the flex raid forum was Dec 13th so let's just say that I'm not terribly optimistic.

What baffles me further is that when I "share" the "movie" folder with me ("Jimbo") and I go to access it through the PCH it says "no content found",

this is AFTER getting a message from windows that the folder was successfully shared.

sigh.

Are you accessing the root share. Windows allows you do mount a share deeper then the root. so say your real share is /volume1/and Movies is a subfolder under that windows will let you map it pch will not it has to be root share

Right now I'm just trying to get the pch to grab an IP all of a sudden. I am just so tired of this.

When I ran it off my synology it was a volume and there was a folder labeled "movies" that I linked to and that was the end of it. Being able to see and play the movies but not be able to start the jukebox makes me think that it's a "privilege" issue somewhere, but seeing I've doled out full privileges I do not know what to do, now.

I guess I'll now work on the pch working, period.

So I don't know if it means anything, but I opened up my laptop, jumped on my network, and was able to add a picture from my laptop into the same folder in the flexraid volume that the pch cannot write to. I can also change movie title names.

So then, what is keeping the PCH from writing to this folder?

is your PCH connecting with the same user. When you added the share did you leave username and password blank? As it sounds like its using username guest or something. If not search for user emery on the popcorn hour forums I see a post where he runs flexraid and NMJ so maybe he can help you out

I do not recall adding any username or paswword but the PCH DID want my pc user name and password until I turned it off.

out of nowhere the 400 just built the jukebox from the same share I tried over and over. I simply selected the "MOVIE and TV" folder off the flexraid "V" drive, set it to share and wholla...after the 12th or 15th attempt it magically worked.

Now though, when I go to dload different artwork it tells me: "1 item(s) out of undefined failed to download".

Although it DID work fine with the first title I had to change. confused.gif

So then what is the proper way to set this up then? I have already tried sharing the entire drive.

possibly a sharing issue. Did you turn on read/write on your flexraid "V" hard drive sharing?

Thanks for the tip Pain...as I recall you're running a flexraid too. (?)

I ended up doing just that. What I cannot get my head round is the fact that I went into the "V" drive through windows and shared the movies folder. It simply does not make sense to me that I also need to share the drive. Further, after sharing seemingly everything on earth earlier and finally gettting it to work, I swear I turned sharing "OFF" on the drive and it was still working.

Now, I'm assuming we're talking about turning sharing on in WINDOWS, not setting up a share IN the flex raid app (as I do not even know how to find it anyway).

Now- again- I'm getting the failure to update message in the jukebox when I attempt to dload new cover or fan art, even though everything is unchanged from where I got the jukebox to update from.

I know I'm beating on this thread, but this is driving me insane.

thanks again,

James

Yes I use flexraid. For some reason when ever the power goes out or blinks, I always have to turn the sharing back on for both the V drive and my movies folder. You have to be able to share the drive in which the folder you want to use is, or else it will not let you access the folder because the drive is not shared. Kind of like saying that you can sleep in one of the rooms in my house, but you can't get in because you do not have a key to my house. Probably a bad analogy, but you get the point.

Yes, I am talking about in windows, or home server.

As far as download cover art goes, I use NMJToolbox2. It is so much faster and easier. All of the album art and cover art are all in 1080p as well. All I do is load up my movies that I rip into their folder. Then I pull up the database and add the movies there. It adds everything for you automatically and then you have the option to change the art. There is a lot more choices in the NMJTB2. Once you try it, you will not regret it and wished that you would have done it sooner.

Doing all of this, I have never ever had an issue or a hiccup. Knock on wood! I also start in the jukebox screen and not the main screen. If it goes to the main screen, then I know that my power went out and need to share the drive and the folder again.

I hope I can help you out. good luck

I have the 550 and I never have to turn on forced subtitles. It happens automatically.

Are you talking bluray iso/folder or are you talking a mkv or something else?

You are doing something wrong.

Same here - I get the forced subs without needing to turn them on.

I suspect that the software that you are using to rip is not handling the "forced" flag correctly. If so, then the A400 will have the same issue.

Crap. I use ISO backups only. Some time it works, sometimes not. May be the verisoning of my backup software. Not too worried about this feature though.

It will be interesting to see how the additional RAM helps out the interface speed. The them able interface is quite compelling as well, lack of eye candy was the biggest reason that I don't have my A-400 anymore.

Yes, bu back when I had my A400 I don't remember being able tho theme it like that. I like to keep things seasonal for the WAF. Any thoughts on NMJ2 speed with the additional RAM?

So the only real difference with the A-410 is the better DACs? I haven't used analog output sin many years. Double the memory too but the A400 has had no isses in my use with high bitrate HD with 512MB of memory. So O see it's around the same price. So does this mean the A-410 is replacing the A-400? Or wll they be selling the A-400 at a lower price?

Cloudmedia now has the Popcorn Hour A-410 up for sale estimated shipping date is January 10th. Seems they doubled the ram along with the updated DAC

Ps can someone tell me if they added more features to the VXP yet in the a-400? Cant understand why this is limited.

Bitstreaming should not be an issue. it's whether it decodes it and downmixes. Since recently this was removed from some of their older products. At least from what I've read.

Now the 400 won't show the WORKGROUP...and it won't load the jukebox...again. "Database write error. Could not proceed with request."

I have the Flexraid V set up as a root and renamed "MEDIA" . When I click on it I can see the files but when I click on it to load the jukebox I get the error message.

That's when I could actually access it. Now I cannot even do that of course.

sigh.
