Okay, I bought a Sumvision Cyclone MKV Enclosure second hand and when I turned it on it was stuck at the boot screen. I searched a few forums for a solution and the most recommended one was to update with mvix Ultio (mx-800hd) 2.11 firmware.
So I got 2.11, stuck it on a usb stick, held the power button in for 10 secs, put the power cable in and after a few seconds the screen went blank, the "updating firmware" screen came up, the light was flashing away on my usb stick. Happy days.
Then I got an error message that the upgrade had failed and to "get yaffs_2_2.img" as the size of the firmware file was wrong. Since then I have tried official upgrades from both Sumvision and Mvix but I can't get the enclosure to perform a firmware upgrade again, it just stays at the Mvix loading screen.
Is there any way back from this? I saw on AV Forums that there is an Mvix Unbricking Tool, but the link was dead and I can't find any other reference to it. I have tried the Mvix suggested methods for recovering from a bad flash
but neither work:
I know this is an old player but, if I can get it to work it should be ideal for watching hd mkv's.
