I checked my wifi connection and it says it is excellent. This behavior doesn't happen on Netflix or Amazon.
But:
My Roku Player Basic version goes into constant looping behavior on some channels. Especially affected are TEDtv, WSJ, FoxNews/FoxLive/FoxBusiness, and CNBC, although lately that channel has improved. Is it a result of Roku faulty behavior? Or is it the problem of the channel providers? A search of the internet will expose many complaints about channel dropping.

Are their other players/providers that have these channels but don't have these problems?

Makes expecting live internet television vs. cable something for the distant future.
