I've been thinking about building a small format PC for streaming from my NAS. I don't expect to do any gaming on it (thought it might be fun to do a little... low priority though). What really matters to me are:
1) Video streaming of my movie collection (DVD/BD/3D)
2) FLAC playback (ideally output through COAX SPDIF... I have a DAC)
3) Standard suite of streaming services: VUDU, Amazon, Netflix, Internet Radio
4) Ideally unit should be drivable from an android tablet app (iphone or droid phone would be ok as well).

I had been looking at building my own (either Intel i3-3225 w/HD4000 video or an AMD llano) with something like Plex, XMBC, or JRiver.

Some of these streamers have caught my attention (e.g. mede8er) but I'm not sure they will match PQ (esp if I bring something like MadVR to the table). I also question how flexible they will be in terms of command&control as well as support for various streaming services.

I've got no problem building my own (seem to be coming in around $400-600) but if I can get a good quality unit for around that price point it would be worth it to me to have a turnkey solution.

Thoughts?
