The options and functions it talks about are amazing, and if it functions anywhere near how it looks, it would be a decent setup

Agreed, my reservation is that it is ... Xtreamer .... To their credit they definitely put together some of the best marketing!

They must have hired the best PR guy in the media player market world. But that player setup offers a lot, will be interesting to see a sigma player run android, been a long time coming for it to try to come out.

Agreed. There are some very interesting features (for example, just noticed if you have an attached drive supposedly you can stream it for playback on your mobile device). Not sure about expected US availability but I will probably grab one to test out (if I ever get to my Prodigy review...)

Cheers,
Damian

Well, the ads are slick . . . but the English is still terrible!
You'd think they would hire someone to do it right . . . . this isn't the way to pretend to be global. rolleyes.gif

Based on the past performance of this company and its terrible reputation, I would tend to agree.

All their upcoming products in the past have looked cool, but delivery is always a huge disappointment. They make Syabas look like pros.

One thing I noticed about the demo is it shows "Movies" as a category of media, and indeed "Music". Where are options for "TV Episode" or "Pictures"? I can understand some people not being interested in browsing photos, but TV episodes for a media jukebox are a must surely?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LCVTeN9d6-o

And another TWO concerns:-
1) You seem to select shared folders over the network. What if you simply want to browse to a location (sub folder)? Can't see an option to do that?
2) You don't seem to say what the shared folder is for? For example, if you happened to have an mp3 file for some reason in your films, it would then be absorbed into your music library. Consider if they did support photos, would you then see all your cover art in with your personal photos? As you add a folder, you designate its media purpose, "Movies", "TV Episodes", "Music" (or "Pictures") and only the appropriate media files recognised.

I know on their Realtek players TV Shows is not part of the jukebox (unless they added it recently)

Ok, I pre-ordered the xtreamer. Got the first version of the os, got some extra apps on it, AND root shell with BusyBox.
Some of the apps did not look really good (as in never so bad ever).... And they upgraded the software..... and gone is my root access unfortunately.
There are some weird things going on with this appliance. You cannot rename the sharename, so no logic in there, just - share1, share2 etc. But does connect without hassle to my NAS.
Unable to setup NZB leeching software, only torrents which is NOT something I would like to use.

The only reason I've bought this device is because of the Sigma Chipset and the price. I am a tweaker but my family isn't so they would like a 'works out of the box' device.
The picture quality is better than I had before with my own HP Media Center device (xbmc on Windows with HDMI Nvidia graphix).

there is no subtitle SEARCH on the internet support, just local files. The remote is awefull and non-responsive. I hastily reprogrammed my harmony one and it's much better.
Build quality is mediocre (as expected for €99,-). And I do not use the WiFi antenna.

Support is, as far as I needed, just plain blunt: answer to all my questions: Wait for new firmware....
Now 2 months later, progress seems to halt on this device....

Anyone out there that has rooted this thing? I've ordered an Ouyja to replace this one....

Would I buy another xtreamer? Nope, will save more bucks and step up my game,

just my 2 cents.

I would think that people would stop buying Xtremer products after their history of promising the world, and at the end promises aren't kept.biggrin.gif
