Hello,

I need a high end media player to play art videos. I need limited storage but very high image quality for blue ray playback. Today I have a Asus Oplay HD2 linked to a Pioneer Surround processor/amplifier. I want to substitute the Asus for something better. Blue ray image quality is the key criteria
- Would a HTPC be better, for example based on mac mini?
- Are there better much better media players than the Asus?
- Would solutions like Vidabox or KAleidescape improve on image quality?

Thanks for your help

Thanks halfelite,

I thought about the Oppo. What about its image quality if I play from a USB (Oppo has USB 2.0 and playes video from it)?

+1 on the Oppo 103.

And yes, the Oppo will play from USB (memory stick or Hard drive) or via network (DLNA or SMB). Image quality is awesome due to new dual-core main processor combined with Qdeo secondary video processor.

The Oppo is looking good.

What would be the best solution for video quality: Going for the Oppo 105 or for the new Theta Combi BLu based on the Oppo 95?

For video quality, you could stick with the 103 as the highest quality will be transmitted digitally via HDMI and the 103 and 105 are identical in that regard. The 105 and the Theta both have upgraded analog audio components for use with high-end amplifiers that accept analog inputs.

If you still want to choose between the 105 and 95 based Theta, the 105 will have the better video processing.
