Is Windows vista 64 bit compatible with Apple TV MD199LL/A. Under my computer specs it says HDPC is not supported. Core Media is supported.I'm using a wireless connection. Will I still get a HD signal to my HDTV using a HDMI cable from my Apple TV directly to HDMI2 on the HDTV and using a optical digital cable from the Apple TV to the A/V receiver? I'm new to this stuff and would appreciate any help. I guess I have one option and that is to upgrade my Vista to windows 7. Thanks in advance Bill
The AppleTV is a standalone device it will work even if there is no PC, what you can use the PC for is running iTunes and you can stream media from iTunes to the AppleTV as such the only requirement is iTunes.
On a side note I would update to Win7 over Win Vista it's a lot better.
Thanks ALx330; I get it now. I think what threw me off was when I selected a movie from the i tunes store. It gave me this message; The HD version of this item is available on Mac or Windows 7 computers with HDPC components.
After I read this, I thought I needed a computer with HDPC capability. I think what this message means is, if you wanted to be able to watch HD movies from itunes on your computer, it would have to support HDPC. (I guess) thank you very much for the help!
