Just keep in mind regarding Seamless Branch, I don't believe anyone has solved that to date with BD Lite

Like dbone1026 said, seamless branching hasn't been fixed by anyone, and it might never be fixed. I do not play 3D content with my TV303D yet, but it works just as good as my D1 one for 2D. I believe at the moment the best 3D media player is the Mede8er. Hopefully, in the near future the Dune 3D media player will get better just as their older 2D units.

The a400 has almost fixed seamless branching most of the titles you dont notice anything different. a Few titles you will get a slight audio drop. hopefully dbone can test again soon and give his feedback. I only have one seamless iso and its brave and happens to be one that still gives audio dropout.

I will see if I can confirm with one of the Toy Story movies as those are the ones that always break on seamless branch right from the opening sequence

I don't have issues with seamless branching thanks to ClownBD.

Did you notice any random "noise" as reported by some forumers?

I have. It happened twice:

1) After playing a movie with no audio track. <--- this would be rare, next time I should pay better attention when I rip foreign films.
2) After playing a video channel in stereo that was coming from the emplexer app.

I am still trying to come to terms that gollum knows how to operate a media player confused.gif

Hdland have just announced this box as Zappiti player mini availability May only with 3D ISO, so makes me think 3D MVC MKV is a long way off, if ever.

Is this player close when it comes to HDTV standards/REC 709? The Dune D1 is not very accurate in linarity, either in luminance or chromacity.

Curious how you know this. I'd like to see a report on the Dune like the Secrets of Home Theater HDMI benchmark, but it requires test equipment that the average home user (or even the average pro reviewer) does not have access to.

One could use an ISO of the Spears & Muncil calibration disc to test these things. Of course, it all hinges on having a display that is perfectly accurate or at least calibrated. You can never be sure if you're testing the player or the display. Displays, for example, tend to return difference results with different source material, color spaces, resolution, etc.

I may have missed this before, but the zappiti base 3d lists bd 3d iso capable, but the non zappiti base 3d doesn't(except in lite). Is this a new discovery or is there still a catch? I have all my bd 3d's in full iso, and was waiting for the Intel based player because i thought that would be the only option for bd 3d iso. Has that changed?

Hi,

I have a TV303D and I am finding it impossible to play a blu-ray.
I have a samsung external USB Blu-ray drive that I have connected to the USB 2.0 port.
when I navigate to 'sources' and select the optical drive icon it just opens up the blu-ray disk and displays the folders..I would expect it to play or bring up the blu-ray lite menu.

If I use a DVD, when I select the optical drive it starts playing the disk..

What am I missing?

Thanks

Mark.

That's simple, you need to buy the Dune Smart series for that type of set up. You need to remove the encryption prior to the Dune being able to play the movie.

So to confim then,...

The 303 will not play genuine blu-ray disks via a Blu-ray drive connected via USB.

(What do I need to play a genuine disk? will the base 3d with an optical drive work?)

To play a Blu-ray ISO on the 303 the image needs to be unprotected.

Have I now go this right?

Thanks

Mark.

Hopefully I'll get the time testing this in the coming week. I use Lumagen as a signal generator, along with Calman5, Klein K10 and a calibrated DLP projector I will be able to determine variations between different colorspaces, source materials and color convertion matrixes. A whole lot of testing.

I will compare Lumagen as a knowned referens pattern source to the following equipement.

Oppo BDP 103
Dune HD D1
Dune Base HD

I can post findings if anyone is intrested? Maby this thread isnt the place to do so.

You are correct. Your optical drive will not play Hollywood (ie, copy-protected) Blu-ray discs with any Dune. The only Dune models that can decrypt discs are the ones that come with their own Blu-ray drive.

My comment was based on the fact that they were quite specific and very clear that the Zappiti Mini a la 303D would only at this time play 3D ISO, whereas previous Dune and Zappiti literature was (at least to me) less clear about 3D MKV playability -
both 3D units (in both Dune and Zappiti variants) will play decrypted 3D ISO's now.
As someone who normally rips to MKV format, I am extremely interested in the next Dune firmware which hopefully will support MVC MKV's but obviously will not now be available in the near future or it would have been announced in the Zappiti Mini blurb

Thanks, so even the new 3d base won't play a blu-ray if you add a drive??
