Not sure if I'm on the right forum but here is my issue.

I have a 2011 MBP 11" with OS X (Lion) that has a mini HDMI (Thunderbolt) port for display connection. I checked that audio does go thru the HDMI port. So I bought a mini adapter like this one from Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/DisplayPort-Female-Adapter-Macbook-Pro/dp/B002HU629E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1362249455&sr=8-1&keywords=mini+hdmi+thunderbolt+adapter

So far, I tried both a 720p Panasonic and a 1080p Samsung to no avail. It is suppose to be Plug & Play.

I've checked System Preference and Display setting already, even adjusting the display resolution.

Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Clarification.

It was a 2011 MacBook Air 11". I also tried my old (2007) MBP 15" to no avail (not sure which OS). This is the 2nd MinidDisplay adaptor that I bought.

Just a thought but Have you tried checking this:

System Preferences > Displays >> Arrangement >>> Mirror Displays (but know, that the display with the lowest resolution determines the maximum resolution used on both, thus one display will have a lower than native resolution, except when both displays have the same native resolution)

Or you just drag the windows you want onto the TV. It acts as extension as it is currently set up.

Currently there are 272 1 star reviews (of 1,249 total). Perhaps you bought a crappy product?

It's possible, one from Amazon and one from no-name vendor.

I'll try this

System Preferences > Displays >> Arrangement >>> Mirror Displays

when I get home.

Still not working.

Will go to talk to one of the "Genius" in the NYC Apple Store tomorrow.

Well, the $45 from the Apple store worked. These other 2, one from Amazon and one from eBay did not but only cost $6 together.

Thank you all.
