I love my Squeezeboxes, even though the web-based software isn't all that wonderful. Recently Logitech decided to abandon the entire Squeezebox ecosystem and no longer sell them, so I'm looking for alternatives now. I don't like Sonos stuff for various reasons that I won't go into at the moment.

I've been looking into these WASAPI-based streamers, where I could use software such as Foobar2000 or iTunes to send high-quality audio to various zones in my house. I'm a huge fan of Foobar so that's what I would use.

So far there are a few decent options it seems, but I'm wondering if anybody here uses this stuff and can compare the experience to that of Squeezebox/Sonos.
