Uhh, yeah, why would anyone consider the vizio??? Compared to roku 3?

Get the R3 and dive into hundreds of channel options.

Jajajajaja!!!!!!!
The only reason I'm considering the Vizio ( I meant I was) is because it also serves as a player for multi video format files from my pc or any hard drive, or am I wrong about that?

The Co-Star isn't a bad device, in fact I have 2 and I like them....more so for the fact that there's no need to change inputs on the TV to access the device's features. I like the fact that GoogleTV devices overlay your live TV feed....the only thing missing from these devices is Hulu. I also own a couple Rokus, they are also great devices....IMO you can't wrong either way, unless you need Hulu, then go with the Roku. I think Roku should take a page out of Google's book and add HDMI passthru (in/out) so their GUI is able to overlay your live TV feed (eliminates the need to switch inputs).

I have 2 Roku2 players (XS) and 2 Sony NSZ-GS7 Google TV boxes. The Roku players are very nice but quite underpowered for local playback. Even Plex on the Roku is not as good as on the Sony which supports far more Direct Play media playing. The Roku has a zillion channels, most of which are a waste but it does have good support for the main premium streaming sites. I think both players are interesting although quite frankly an Intel NUC running XBMC under win8 is a far superior player ( at 3 times the cost) and it is not much bigger than the Roku. If anything comes closest to being great for local and streaming that is it.

The Sony GTV has better codec support than the Co-Star. The big question is whether or not GTV has a future.

True, the Roku excels at content, but not at streaming local content. For the average person that wants the best of both worlds I'd strongly advice getting the Wd Live SMP. It streams most of the big content providers, and does a fantastic job with local content.
