I just purchased one of these devices off of ebay and I got it today.

I'm happy with everything about it asside from two things.

1.The wireless N module is external

and

2. There is no Netflix or Web Browser built into the firmware.

My question is this: Will there ever be a firmware update released that will include either of these two features? The web browser would be preferable because I could just log into my Netflix and Hulu accounts through that.

Also. Whats with the Russian text in the application folder and where can I get a language pack in English for it?

If none of this is going to happen in the remote future is it possible to get the source code to rewrite the firmware myself?

It's great hardware and like I said those are really my only issues with the device itself.

Anyways thanks in advance.

Online streaming such as Netflix, Hulu, etc. will not happen. Good luck with the media player web browsers aren't ideal for pretty much anything. Media player are geared to playing video files. If you want Netflix and Hulu you should of gotten a WDTV or Boxee box.

Media Server: UnRaid Server: 15TB of storage and growing :).

Well, that's kinda stating the obvious on the first question. I also asked two other questions.

2.) "Whats with the Russian text in the application folder and where can I get a language pack in English for it?"

Now before telling me to change the language to English from setup I'll tell you that I allready have. It's in the internet applications menu that's in all Russian. I'd like to change that to english or figure out how it was done which is why I asked the other question

3.)If none of this is going to happen in the remote future is it possible to get the source code to rewrite the firmware myself?

Because if I have a firmware application that is in russian and two versions of Youtube in this internet applications folder then applets can be written for it and flashed to the device.

What I'm trying to find out is where can I go to either a. get the source code and write the browser myself, or b. Where can I go to download the applets I want and flash them myself since someone already has with this device.

There are reasons why I didn't get a WD TV "Not SATA dockable" and it's hub version is only 2 TB of storage.

I did mean to get the Boxee Box but I got Boxee TV instead and it sucks.

Well, good luck. You can email Micca customer service and see if you can get the source code, which shouldn't be a problem since Micca is probably going to be none existence.

So what I'm looking for I guess is the Realtek 1185 firmware source code since that is what this device was coded with. I did find the built-in web browser for this device.

Had to hit options from the Real Pilot menu and just peck in the URL.

You need a usb keyboard and mouse to navigate https://signup.netflix.com/login and http://www.hulu.com

In the last 30 minutes of tinkering with it I realize that the only thing really missing on this device is the newest flash for hulu support and a Microsoft Silverlight equivalent protocol for Netflix.

While we're at it a Java update should be done and the device should work better than most other netflix / hulu plus players.

Just need the Realtek 1185 source code to begin work.
