I am trying to find a player based on the following set of needs/wants:

1) I will not be using it for 3D

2) I will not be using it for Blu-ray rips

3) I want to archive and view my DVDs as movie only MKVs (approximately 1800 DVDs)

4) I want to play FLV and MP4 files in addition to my DVDs

5) I potentially want to convert my LPs to digital and store them for playback (approximately 500 LPs)

6) I want a convenient jukebox interface for locating and playing files

7) For storage I will eventually go to a NAS, but I want to start by using a USB hub to connect multiple external USB drives (five 2TB drives)

8) I want it to operate a stand alone setup (only connecting to a network temporarily for things such as gathering meta-data)

I am thinking the 450X2 would work. Am I correct? Would another player suit my needs better?

Pivos XIOS DS and it's XBMC firmware might be a better candidate given your description, it does all of that and XBMC has better music playback capabilities than any other platform out there. XBMC has better support for FLV, MP4 and other assorted containers as well.

The only thing is the XBMC firmware is beta plus you will need a micro sdcard to save the XBMC media library to it and flash the firmware.

But the Mede8er would suffice as well.

Thanks for the suggestion. Does the Pivos have a good movie jukebox interface that will work through a USB hub to multiple drives?
