After 35 of having no sound system besides my PC I bought Pioneer Elite VSX-70. Everything is great, but it does not stream video from my PC. I see the video list, but I can't play them.

Can someone explain a dummy like me, why it does not work? My feeling is we are years away of being able to stream video.

Video streaming has been around for years unfortunately for you the device you have is intended for music only and still has one foot in the past leaving video streaming to other things. Most of companies who make receivers are like that catering to an AV niche & physical media so they typically don't include video playback.

You could go buy something like a WDTV Live to have it play digital videos.
