In my HTPC setup, at higher volumes, I've noticed that certain MOG songs seem to have a treble overtone that will follow bass parts in the music. Has anyone else noticed this?

A good example is Radiohead's 'House of Cards' in the first seconds before the kick drum comes in. On MOG, there is some kind of higher frequency component that shadows the guitar.

The overtones are present:
  • in both Stereo and Pure direct mode on the receiver
  • through my low end Sennheiser headphones plugged into the receiver
  • in the 320kb/sec Spotify version, iirc (I no longer have Spotify so I can't confirm this).

The overtones are not present:
  • on the 256kb/s iTunes version
  • on the FLAC

Another example is during the first 10 seconds of "The Game Has Changed" off the Tron Legacy Soundtrack.

UPDATE: I fiddled around with it and found that changing the 'Default format' of the AVR's properties in windows from 16 bit, 48000 Hz to 24 bit, 192000 Hz eliminates the noise entirely:
