Hello, just wondering what are some of the best media players out there for a crt hdtv. My TV is a
Panasonic CT-26WX15

I been using my xbox 360 to play my movies, but as far as I know, it doesnt support mkv. I also wanted to know if the 360 really plays the movies in HD considering I have it hooked up via component at 1080i. This is another factor that may lead me to buy a media player. Which ones do you guys and gals recommend me?

Is the popcorn also a good media player? i'm really looking for a media player that can upscale and downscale and can downmix 6 ch audio to 2ch.

All media players upscale or downscale depending upon the selected video output and also downmix audio.

PCH has a few more bells and whistles compared to the Hub, & the PCH A400 is supposed to have better image quality.

Just be careful if you want to stream from sources like Netflix as some will NOT stream HD from the component outputs and then you will need to get an HDMI to component video output device around $85 on Amazon. I have one from a company called ViewHD and it converts HDMI to analog component with optical digital sound and analog stereo outputs and you can play any HDMI signal into it including Blu-Ray.

I should be ok, My TV does have a HDMI port. I really could care less about netflix support, just want a good media player that could last a year or 2.

How do the lower end players from Asus and Micca fair in comparison?

I wouldn't bother with them stick with the Hub or splash out on a PCH.
