My father needs a media player that has a built in dvd drive (or blu-ray)
It will be acceptable if it can use a usb dvd drive but i prefer built in
ive tried to setup a wdtv live with b rad firmware but it crashes too often and doesnt allow him to pause, fast forward or shut down the device
i was looking at the wd streaming player but its old as well and i am concerned that in 6 months or less new codecs will be used and this player will not be compatible
Ive heard the wd play is a cut down version so plays even less formats and they are looking more into streaming media from known sites rather than local media playback
Ive looked at the dune series of players but they also use an old chip set.
Im told it is chip upgradable but there is no info at all.
Has anyone experienced how dune handles chip upgrades and if it is easy to upgrade?
I do not want to do something like replace a cpu it needs to be as easy as installing ram.
The other solution is a htpc with custom windows so it only boots straight into a media centre
he doesnt mind the interface of the wdtv so it has to be simple like that or like xbmc
