Im trying to decide between Roku 2 xs and Roku 3 ,I can get the Roku 2 xs refurb for $50 free shipping or the roku 3 for $100 free shipping.my question is Does the roku 3 with the new features and new processor worth the extra $50 or should I wait till the Roku 3 is on sale for lower. I don't mind about the remote with headphones because I think that will drain the batteries, but do the speed is very notable?

Thanks...

The Roku 3 is noticeably faster. I would get it.

The Roku3 is noticeably faster but for double the price it isn't worth it. It was certainly worth a $20 price premium but not $50. Although if it had handled 3D then I probably would have picked up a second or third Roku3 instead of keeping my two Roku 2 boxes around.

I also think the same but I will give it a try ,I think $50 for the roku 2 sx is a great deal, it have the same gui and it feels fast ,I don't know how fast is the Roku 3, I will test both and maybe make a video on youtube for a comparison, because I haven't see any video, this way it will help others to decide before buy.

I bought a Roku 2, which I got to replace my old Roku N1000 because I was having so much rebuffering and crashes in the middle of movies with the old Roku. But the Roku 2 seems to have the same problem, though it could be less often.
My question is: Would the Roku 3, with its improved processor or whatever, be likely to better resolve the rebuffering problem?

Buffering could be your ISP or network. It also could be the location of the roku if you are wireless. The Roku 3 does have dual band wifi which might help but not guaranteed to eliminate buffering.

Only the Roku 3 has wired ethernet, wish the less expensive did too but that's not to be.

The Roku 2XS does not have You Tube if that matters. At $50 it is a great deal though I still feel the Roku 3 is worth the extra money, especially if you want 5GHz wifi as well as 2.4GHz.

The lack of YouTube in the 2XS May or may not be an issue. You should also have a look at Amazon's FireTV which is excellent.

My Roku 2 XS works great with both WiFi and wired ethernet connections (actually powerline ethernet). If I want to watch Youtube on it, I use the Plex Youtube channel. Roku says they are planning a Youtube channel for it, but it has been several months since they said that, so it may end up in the wastebin of broken promises.
