I was looking at the Belkin HD bluetooth receiver. When paired it streams audio via bluetooth to a host of analog and digital outputs. Plan is to use my windows laptop to stream to a onkyo 8050, and also connect a ipod touch occasionally.

Was just curious if a bluetooth connection can really benefit from digital output or if standard analog rca outputs is good enough for the sound quality bluetooth transmits?

Hmmm . . . "HD Bluetooth" seems to be an oxymoron, like "jumbo shrimp".

Bluetooth is low-bandwidth, and therefore needs to use a boatload of compression. So from a quality standpoint, there is no reason not to use the analog connection. Bluetooth will always be the weak link.

bluetooth can run a max of 512kb/s per channel up to 2 channels so there is nothing HD about it. So no you wont get a benefit from optical
