Hi,

So I just moved, and am missing sound in my new pad... I am surviving on my laptop speakers and flat-tv panel, and basically, it doesn't cut it.

So I'm looking for a mainly musical alternative.

Quick Sketch : I have a flat panel TV, mediacenter (zbox running openelec), synology nas, xbox360, ps3, ipad... I have no need for 5.1 or 7.1, but might go for 2.1 (rental appartment, misses hates cables)

I mostly want good quality music coming from idevices, and better video sound (through mediacenter) than flatpanel would be great.

So I am currently considering two solutions, and would love to have some recommendations. The budget is about the same.

Option 1 : B&W A7 - airplay out of the box, but a bit expensive for just a speaker. Also, how does it deal with the TV ?

Option 2 : Marantz NR1504 - slim AV receiver, with two B&W M1's. Question - how does this handle music ?

Any other suggestions are more than welcome, budget is around 800 sterling. Spotify connectivy (optionally through Idevices) is a must.

Thanks,

Nick

Nick

Up until last week, I was using M-1 and a B&W center in my HT setup. They sound very very good. The bass isn't as deep as advertised, at least it wasn't in my room. When Trinnov measured them it said they only went to 100Hz as opposed to the advertised 55Hz. For that reason you'd probably want a subwoofer as well.

Another great small alternative are the Cambridge Audio Minx. They have outstanding clarity but, again, no bass.
