Is anyone using the ethernet port on the rear of a FiOS [motorola] QIP 7232 DVR?

If you plug it into a network will the router assign an IP address so you can control it via ethernet [like my receiver] instead if IR?

Or is this port disabled by Verizon.

Verizon does not activate the ethernet connections on the boxes. But your dvr already has an IP address on your network. All MoCA devices have an ip address on your network but you cannot control the device over ip as far as I know
