Its interessting, but not really that what i want.

I am searching for a command line who auto crop the cover image to fit in the select frame of icons, like yadis do it ( in yadis the cover image size plays no role, its always fit perfectly in the frame of the custom folder icon). But probably that make the Template.xml File and not a simple dune_folder.txt.

But its not so important, i stay in list view mode and have the cover in the right panel, thats enough for me and anyway the best view mode to scroll throug the Musiclibrary.

Thanks.

Yadis (or my DMM) do not do a "resize on the fly". The output sizes are defined in the template and the program resize the images as needed when the jukebox content is exported.

Yes i tought so.

would be interesting to know, how Dune managed it with her own default icons ( i mean with the default icons its no problem when change the icon view, the icon size automaticaly fit to the screen with no overlay),but i don't know how i can view the standard dune_folder structure from Dune Firmware.

Sorry, when i get on nerves again and again...

sorry to ask another question, but do you know how i became a background image, when i play audiofiles from a album folder, instead only the black screen ( Dune standard background when play music)

:o

There is only one way that I know of to have some images while playing music ... slideshow with backgound music.
It can't be done if you select a song file, you have to
- play a "folder" (i.e. hitting the play button while on the folder) that contains both images and audio files
- play a playlist file that references both images and audio files (DMM does it this way)

When you do that, the Dune will ask you if you want to
- show the images
- play the files
- do both

if you choose the have both, you'll get a slideshow of the images while listening to the audio files. You can then play/pause the music, go the prev/next track but you can't see/select an individual file

When i play a folder with Play button it start normaly without to ask, what i want.

Maybe my image file in the folder is an image.aai and not image.jpg?

or must i something changed in dune_folder,in the moment i have only " icon_path=image.aai"

Point is that I have no hands-on experience with your specific setup (browsing folders in list view with side panel). I'd need to test it on my side but I'm afraid I've no time to do it. Sorry frown.gif

For that you must Hide System Files to NO in setup by Dune.Thats not so good, cause Dune shows all systemfiles on screen ( yadis hate it)

Hi all,

just wanted to provide a quick update.

I uploaded 2.0.11d beta on dropbox (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/r7g8evhq3cztd20/5gCluKlLGM).

It brings one additional feature, the capability of displaying all images that are in an album folder while playing that album (if "playlists with images" is ON).
How to do it is explained in the new version of the doc (still on dropbox).
If you already had a 2.0.11 release installed you can simply download the new executable, no need to do a new setup.

Right now the main bug I know of that I haven't killed yet is the one that, for some of you, breaks DMM at export (error like "object not set to an instance). This seems to be linked to some images problem.
As said in the previous post, if you encounter this problem, please put DMM in debug mode and send me the log.txt by email (albertocasale@yahoo.com).

I'm making progress also on the WebApp for 2.0. Anyone interested in do beta tests of webApp?
If you are familiar with 1.2.8 webapp, the 2.0 brings
- new look and feel
- more pages (songs, composers, performers, years, folders)
- more customization (e.g. cover or list views)
- shuffle your entire library
- on the fly playlist management (play, shuffle, play next, play last, remove item from playlist). The only missing feature is song reordering

The new feature of displaying all images in an album folder is excellent for playing albums that have high quality artwork. You can use the Dune random transition option to add a nice touch. Thanks Alberto! The program donation button works;)

Hi Alberto,

I've just started to test the DMM. It looks like it is just what I needed for my music library. Many thanks!

But I've got one 'visual' problem - album covers sometimes do not have the album title printed on them or if it is printed, it is very small - then it's hard to guess what album I choose using DMM.

I think it would be very useful if DMM showed the album title below the album picture in the 'Albums' view (as it does with artists names and genres).

I was trying to change the template .xml adding the  <addlabel>True</addlabel> part but with no success :-(

Maybe adding the 'add label' functionality to the Albums part would be useful to other users, too?

regards

protrek

Hi there

if you're using version 1.2.8 then this feature does not exist. However the latest version (available here https://www.dropbox.com/sh/r7g8evhq3cztd20/5gCluKlLGM) has this and many other new features.

It is still labeled beta, might still have some bugs and the WebApp is not yet finished but it works ok. It works also with the Android app DMC.

Let me know how if goes.

hi,

thanks for your work. i like it.

but i have a question. it is posible to name the Artist's by the Realname in Artist overview?

i mean not Winehouse, Amy but rather Amy Winehouse. i cant find any option to make this. i prefer Realnames for Artist's like this one.

thx emmeli

//edit

ok. i think i have found it. Artist Sort Rules == Use First Word.

Hi

the right option to change this behavior is in the Options tab of the template editor pane at the bottom of the screen (use the botton on top right toolbar to reveal the template editor).

In the Options tab you need to uncheck the box "use sortname". Do not forget to save your template (you'll be prompted anyway).
If you do it your way (Sorting by first word) you'll have Amy Winehouse sorted as A and not W.
In the other case (Options use sortname unchecked), you'll have her sorted as W but the label underneath will by Amy Winehouse

Hope it helps

hi,

thx for your reply. i have test it with:

Sade
Sisters of Mercy
Skunk Anansie
Stefanie Heinzman

btw. nice mix. ^^

but the result is the same. with uncheck the box "use sortname" and build a new menu is the same as use a existing menu and check or uncheck the box. sort order is the same. nothing is changed?

can you test it? and if it works i need a better howto. i use v2.0.11d beta.

thx always emmeli

//edit

ok... found this sort order button. it works with Firstname and Lastname. thats ok. but with Sisters of (Of) Mercy it dosn't work. i have of and Of add to words to ignore.
if i sort with Lastname the result would have to be:

Sade
Skunk Anansie
Stefanie Heinzman
Sisters of Mercy

no way to get this result. sorry.

I currently use a Netgear NTV 550 for movies, tv shows and music. It is fine for .iso movies and tv shows but is awkward with music. I'd like a better option for music (mostly flac files, a few higher resolution hd tracks). I am willing to buy a player for just music. All I need is pass through to my AV receiver, the receiver will do all conversion. What I really am looking for is a good user interface.

With that in mind, what Dune units would be best with DMM? How would that setup compare with Amazon Fire TV using XBMC?

Thank you for any comments.

Thanks for your work.
Would it be possible for Dune Music Manager to display the composer tag?

Hi Emmeli

sorry for the very late reply
I'll check for Artist name point you mentioned (Sisters Of Mercy)
BTW, Regarding Artists sorting you can also modify it manually [A!Z] button on the top right of the toolbar when viewing Artists

Anything else ?

Hi Dan,

I'm about to publish a revised 2.0 version which I'd consider as the 2.0 release (not beta anymore). This release won't include a page for Composers. Composers can be added as part of the Album page under each song.
Access by Composers will be available however using the WebApp which will be released as well.

I consider this feature for the release after 2.0. Anyone else interested ?

- Mercy, Sisters of
- Sade

Last Name without use SortName
- Skunk Anansie
- Stefanie Heinzman
- Sisters of Mercy

Cool !

I wrote a User Manual (https://www.dropbox.com/sh/r7g8evhq3cztd20/5gCluKlLGM) but admittedly it is quite short. Have you checked it out already ?
I'll see if I can improve it without writing a 30 pages word doc

DMM 2.1 and its WebApp

Hi all,

many of you already used one of the several DMM 2.0 beta releases. This helped me a lot in making it more robust. Not to say that the latest version is bug-free, but I decided to promote it to release number 2.1 and remove the wording beta.
By the way, 2.1 now also includes the new WebApp. It hasn't been tested extensively by people out there, I hope you'll find it useful and report back to me the issues/requests you'll have about it.
For the WebApp (only for that) make sure you have the new DMM plugin installed (preferably uninstall the old one before)

Where to find 2.1 : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/m7zpkhkvx...7iNxcq7d2a/2.1
You'll find there

DMM 2.1 Features

  • 2.0 beta features (see here Enjoy your music on a Dune with Dune Music Manager (DMM))
  • Bugs fixing
  • Additional features on top on what initially available in 2.0.x beta
  • No need anymore for DMM to be able to create a folder (.DMMplaylists) at the root of your Music Library. Your Music library can therefore be read-only for DMM
  • Valid image names: now customisable in the xml option menu
  • Support for png images for album and genre covers
  • Added an option to "Export only for the DMM WebApp" (DMC still needs the standard export, full or incremental). This feature will make the export much much faster but you won't be able to have a usable TV menu, just the webapp
  • Use All Images in Album folder for "Playlist with images" . Modifying an option in the options xml file, DMM will create a playlist with all images found in the album folders creating slideshow when playing an album
  • Remote Control window to manage navigation in the menu with the mouse (home, back, pg up/down) on your PC
  • Debug Mode (to help me !)

WebApp
If you are familiar with 1.2.8 webapp, the 2.1 brings
  • new look and feel
  • more pages (songs, composers, performers, years, folders)
  • more customization (e.g. cover or list views)
  • shuffle your entire library
  • on the fly playlist management (play, shuffle, play next, play last, remove item from playlist). The only missing features are song reordering and playlist save/load

Don't know what the DMM WebApp is ?
A convenient way to access/browse/play your music library from the Dune without switching the TV ON. It works with any browser (PC, Smartphone, Tablet, iOS, Android, ...).
It is not a replacement for DMC as it does not reproduce the same UI on your mobile device as you have on TV. However it knows very well your DMM-created Music jukebox and it allows
you to browse the various pages in various ways, search item by name/title, create a playlist, etc.
Read the manual and you'll know more

Any issue, drop me an email or post a msg

BTW what will be after 2.1 ? Some ideas
  • Page Composers for TV usage
  • link a playlist to one or more artists to have it appearing under that artist (kind of your best of)
  • link a collection to one or more genre
  • import m3u files to create playlists
  • be able to get pictures/covers for an album when stored in a specific subfolder (e.g. Artwork)

Enjoy
Alberto

Sorry for late reply

you said "maybe also an idea for the next, info about the band, or artist or did you mean this with Composer page?"

By Composer page I mean a dedicated wall page where only Composers will be shown instead of Artists AND Composers together.
This is already possible with the webApp though.

I haven't planned to add artists info, like bio, etc. My idea was that the result was about organising and enjoying the music you have instead of replace some of the great programs out there (for PC and Smartphone/Tablet) that allow you to get all sort of info (including lyrics) about the artists.

Willing to explore how to do it if of interest for several people

Hello there. I have a Dune TV 101, that I take when I travel. I tried to use this tool. I must say I not understand everything well, my native language is Dutch/Flemish.

Now lets start to say what I did, maybe explains what went wrong. I put the HD with all my music (big collection) attached it on my computer, opened dmm, put as path the hd attached at my computer and scanned. then when finished, saved it , which also took a long time. I copied the dmm folder named "Dunemusic", where the scan was saved , on the same hd as the music. Put it on the dune, opened, the folder, and yes, there was everything, the covers of my music. Ok there were some missed, but looked fine. But when selecting an album to play, nothing happen. Then tried an individual song, then I got an error message, that the path was wrong.

Now maybe that is because the original path was the one with the hd attached to my computer, and now it is to the dune. But what do I have to do to correct that? Also, lets say I add a few albums on the disc, do I have to scan it all over again?

Another question. My collection is very important. On my hd I organised it. Main folder Music. Sub folders Classic Rock, Soul, singer-songwriter, World etc. At home I play my music with a small laptop. There I use J river. I can add my folder structure, and read music, with the covers in that structure, or choose the tagging from J river, by selecting it the classic way, artist, albums, recent etc.

Is there a way to do that with DMM, just select from my own folder structure AND keep also the DMM one? Thanks for your great work!

I like my HT, wine and pretty girls. But...am I the only one

Hi there

I suspect your issue is due to an incorrect dune_path. Can you send me by email (albertocasale@yahoo.com) a snapshot of your menu configuration window (you can use the action "Modify Menu Configuration" to bring it up).
Below the upper part of the window. Check also the user manual at the page 13 (Understanding Dune Paths).

Could you tell me more about what you'd like to do when you say
"Is there a way to do that with DMM, just select from my own folder structure AND keep also the DMM one?"

Thanks for your answer, send you mail.

I mean I like to use my own structure with the ability to choose the music from there, by clicking on the cover. So I go in DMM select musci, classic Rock and get then all what is in that folder. But also keeping possibility to just choose artist and have all folders combined.

It would be very handy if it gave the file name as well for this message:

Quote:

DuneMusicManager 2.1.0

The specified path, file name, or both are too long. The fully qualified file name must be less than 260 characters, and the directory name must be less than 248 characters.

OK

unless you know of a program to list path + file name lengths?

Thanks
