So the 4TB NAS box is full, it's time to upgrade.

In the living room I have an Xtreamer Ultra 2 running openelec, in the 2 bedrooms I have WDLive TV's.

All hooked together with an Asus AC68, switches and Ethernet over power.

My question is, what's the next step for the living room?

The Xtreamer is OK, I still get jerky, shadowy pictures, panning in 1080p is acceptable, but not perfect.  It's noticeable as I have a 65 inch telly.

I'm looking at the Synology DS414 with 4 decent drives, so 16TB of storage.

What do I do for processing?

I've pseudo built a few systems with Assassin, for just a bit more than the price of the Synology NAS I can get one of their media centre PC's with roughly the same storage capacity.

Is that a logical step up from a media streamer?  I'm sure all that extra grunt and having the HDD's on the mother board is going to get rid of my jerky picture but do I really want to keep that 350-500 watt power supply running all the time and have it double up as a NAS box?

Would it be best to build a more powerful media centre PC and just have a SSD in there and use it as a streamer?

Any tips from someone with experience would be helpful...

Thank you
