I installed a Chromecast App for my new Android phone and I was struck by some of the unusual permissions I am forced to grant to the App to use it. With the phone connected to wifi and media servers and with similar apps available for PCs, I am concerned that the Chromecast device could be used to collect lots of information from my devices.

What is "Test Access to Protected Storage" (see screenshot below) anyway?

Why do I have to grant permission to "Find Accounts on the Device" instead of just "Find Google Accounts on the Device"?

This is especially relevant now that the LG TV was revealed to spy on users in a big news story:

Has anyone tested the Chromecast to see what info it really is sending to Google?

Considering Google's primary business is collecting your information and selling it I'm pretty sure the answer is.... yes.
