I have the PS3 and installed the PS3 Media srver.

It recognized my .wtv files ( tv shows recorded with WMC)

Now, it does not.

I can reconvert them, but it takes a long time and I think I must have changed a setting in the Media Server.

Any advice appreciated.

Paul

Have you tried uninstalling/re-installing the software? Make sure to delete/rename the existing configuration file.

Not the solution your looking for but try Mezzmo instead, you got to pay for it but it supports wtv and ps3 media server was never that great.

Thanks for the tip - The program (Mezzmo) plays everything I throw at it.

Can you tell me why my Bluray files that play perfectly on my computer, stutter and freeze using this or any other program?

I have my comp connected by an ethernet cable to PS3, but only have 12mbps DL.

Not enough bandwidth?

I reconverted some of them to Mpeg2 and 4 and they play and look great, so I might have to go that route.

Thanks for your help.

If you're using Windows, the configuration file is stored in c:\programdata\pms\pms.conf (this folder is typically hidden).

With regards to Mezzo, it may or may not work for you. I've tried it myself, and in almost every way, it's better than PS3 Media Server, except for its transcoding capabilities - at least on my machine. While I can easily transcode high bitrate 1080p content with PMS, Mezzo is too slow and doesn't work.

Transcoding Blu-ray video is an intensive process, might be your CPU isn't fast enough.

I would rip blu-ray with makemkv which keeps original video/audio intact then try streaming to the PS3 via Mezzmo or PS3 media server, if you are feeding it BDMV folders those can be a problem. Also don't take HD audio when ripping in MakeMKV (it does not take HD by default), I think it just adds to the transcoding pressure.

If it still stutters after that might be the computer just isnt fast enough.

Yesterday, after installing Mezzmo, and importing files, I happened to look at my C drive (128 gb ssd) and was shocked to see I had only 2gbs free.

I finally realized it was Mezzmo putting 45gbs on my C drive.

I had to uninstall and reinstall program on a different drive.

I have never seen a server (PS3, WMP12,etc) do this.

Is this just the way this  program works, or is there a setting to prevent this?

Also, I must have had a setting originally that synced the audio, now it is out of sync.

Correct settings?

Also, I only wanted a certain folder imported ( one with wmv files) but it installed all my drives anyway.

Can I remove the folders I don't want on the server?

Thanks,

Paul

Your transcoded video for some reason wasn't being deleted thats my best guess, probably a bug not normal for Mezzmo. You'd have to ask on the Mezzmo developer forums, I've not seen that behaviour before so cant guess as to why it did it.

The audio should be in sync regardless with default settings. Check the media device section in Mezzmo, see if the IP of the PS3 is using the PS3 profile, other than that I cant guess as to the difference, it might be the second HDD is too slow but thats a longshot.

The maintain library button should give you control over what folders are shared, by default Mezzmo does not share an entire drive only your basic user music/video/picture folders so I really don't know what's going on there. Click "tools\setup your mezzmo library" to add or remove folders, if the root like C:\ or D:\ is there remove that then click on add folder and point it at the folder you want.

Thanks,

I registered at the Mezzmo forum, but I can't start a thread because they said a conformation email would be sent to me.

Never got it and sent them an email stating that, also no reply.

Your advice, though, will probably help.

Thanks again,

Paul

The box that shows doesn't have an option to Remove Files.

Where can I find that?

I wanted to post a pic, but I guess this forum doesn't have that option.
