WIFI signal affected by HVAC metal ducts or electrical cables?

I am thinking about moving my modem and wifi router to a new location which is currently on my basement floor to my furnace room.

The new location would be near metal ducts, only 1 foot away and electrical cables maybe 2 feet away in another direction, and will be right beside a concrete block wall. Currently my WIFI strength seems to be okay.

The reason for the move is to reduce clutter.

The question is, do HVAC, electrical cables and possibly concrete block adversly affect wifi signals? currently i get about 2-5 /5 bars for 2.4ghz at the furthest extents of the house. for 5.8ghz, i get 2-4/ 5 bars in the same conditions.

Yes any metal or wires will impact your wireless performance. You can try moving to different areas but ideally you want things to be as clear as possible. If that is your only place for your router and you need better range you may want to look at an extender or using an access point.

Wireless requires a lot of experimentation to find the best placement.
