Posted this is the XBMC (Kodi) forum, but interesting as it looks, my questions would be:

- How will this be better than the plethora of Android boxes available these days?
- Will it support HD audio (DTS-MA, TrueHD)?
- Will it support 3D ISO's or MVC MKV's?
- Will it display proper 23.976 and 24fps for film content?
- Native Kodi or Cloud Media's own fork?

Also, Cloud Media (Syabas) has a long history of delivering half-baked products at launch (A-400 series, A-300, etc.), so I wouldn't expect any different from Open Hour. They do improve their products over time, but usually takes 6 months to a year of firmware improvements.

that's the questions I would also ask. Proper autoframerate would make it a good alternative to the other android boxes. If it's not there, that would just be another (expensive) android player.

Did you have any answer ?

Interesting that slowly 4k media players are coming to market with HEVC. Tronsmart has one out too, Orion R28. Maybe there needs to be a separate thread for all 4k media players. Hopefully we will have more established players coming out with media players with HEVC & HDMI 2.0 by end of the year.

Have no idea just saw it in my email an posted it this morning. People were asking questions on their Facebook page and Cloud media answered some of the questions being asked. My Dunes are serving me fine for now until there is a lot more 4k content. I don't feel like being a guinea pig so I'm waiting until they are out and there are solid reviews

From the information I have been told. Its a dual boot machine not being locked you can run your own OS. So off the shelf Kodi support and they will be doing a fork of xbmc as well. They are working on HD Audio. This is not a replacement for popcorn hour boxes its just to fill the android market there should be a 4k player from popcorn hour coming still.

It's odd as as far as their proclaimed partnership with XBMC goes as a couple of XBMC devs are saying they're unaware of any partnership with RockChip or Cloud Media. Guess we'll find out what's what.

All the wording seems to be correct though they are not saying they are working now. they all see future. on there forum they wrote. So seems maybe the partnership is not there yet.

"Rockchip will work with XBMC team to support that in future."

"We will support bitstream via passthrough and eventually for XBMC as well."

hopefully more information comes out at IFA for all players

I received this via email as well. It would be awesome if they support HD audion since none of the Android 4K and none 4K media boxes that support XBMC support HD audio. Heck, I hope they still support Plex with this box as well.

Media Server: UnRaid Server: 15TB of storage and growing :).

I'd like to see them support a skinnable plex client with zero transcoding needed.

Looky here!

I saw somewhere mentioned that they will be supporting PLEX as well most likely through the standard PLEX apk available on the google play store.

Quick question when you all say Andriod boxes don't support HD audio(DTS-MA, TrueHD) does that mean they can't decode the core audio(will still play just won't have the multi channels)? (trying to figure out what that mean for someone not using a AVR receiver)

They can send core (to an AVR) or downmix to 2.0 (if just connected directly to a TV). But, a few upcoming Android boxes (like OpenHour) claim hd audio passthrough capability.

Is there any reason people still buy these crappy android media players that don't even support HD audio and chances they never will? Just pickup a Chromebox and put Linux on it with Plex / Kodi. $165 and it will play everything. Yea it might not play HEVC but there won't be available movies for download in HEVC for a long time i'm guessing.

It doesn't do Netflix/Hulu of course currently, but if HD audio is a deal breaker you can give up on Android.

We'll likely see these before too long, but agreed, if you want a solid, dedicated home theater box, get a NUC or Chromebox, and for full 3D, Mede8er X3D series.

While they take a long time its still better then the fly by night companies that have done most of the android boxes up to this point. The android products need a bit more stable company behind it to hopefully push everything that is wanted to get a decent android player going.
