Looking forward to your review. If it will support DV then this might be the one I'm waiting for.

I notice that these have two HDMI's - one is output as you would expect but the other is for input. How would that be used?

Thumbs down Slow Shipping ???

I have ordered and paid for a Zappitti one 4k HDR from Zappitti store in France. Its been 5 days now and still hasn't shipped. I have tried emailing the "contact us" email address and totally no response.
Has anybody else here ordered from zappitti store, and had the same response ???

I ordered on 31/12 and got no tracking details. After 10 days or so they declared it lost and blamed the courier. So they sent me another one and that came within a week. No refund of postage. 18 days total. They are selling out so might be short of stock.

Their customer services has been very good so far in responding to my queries regarding the player.

It is worth the wait. Looks like it could end up being a sensational device when some minor errors and omissions are fixed.

May i ask why you chose the zappiti one over all the other ones? I'M looking at the zappiti duo 4k hdr only because my mede8er has a 4tb & its full. I can put 2 hdds in there and it should last for awhile. My other thoughts were to get the single & buy a docking station.

Mostly due to the UI and ability to do HDR. I've had the latest models from Nvidia, Dune and PCH, not to mention the current models from Zidoo, Himedia and Minix. Whilst I've only had the Zappiti a week I already prefer using it to the others. Few things need fixing but it looks to be a cracking little device.

Can we?Hope so because I fear in the end that will not came as simple as that. Don't get me wong I hope you can be right but have some ??? Why?
Well because there were also 2 (one out\ one in) in the last 4k family units and
I wonder if this present hdmi In will be fully functional for real.
BTW Can you or anyone explain why this :
last model seems to had issues with its hdmi in. But the strange is that
The spec didn’t even mention the units had one hdmi in port
and it seems this happens again with these ones now because:

In the Info for last 4k model:
Full Range of A/V Connectors: S/PDIF Optical Audio output, AV analogue output via an adaptor, HDMI CEC output to simplify the connection of any device.
In Info for new 4k hdr units:
Full Range of A/V Connectors: S/PDIF coaxial and optical audio output, audio analogue output (cinch), CVBS video analog output, HDMI 2.0a (Deep Color, xvYCC, 12 bits, and CEC).
Again not a word about Hdmi in !....
I asked them why there never was a word about it last time and told them that
the spec of the unit only mentions one (same now for the new 4k hdr)
That I couldn’t found info about the hdmi in.
Well, about it and its capabilities nowhere.
Even in the manual\user guide it appeared only in the schematics

So I put also these simple questions to them
a) what were its capabilities ?
a1- could i link other device true it and upscale an 1080(p\i 50/60 or 575\ 50\60) or whatever image\signal to 4k 8 bit 24 \30 444 or 4.2.2 to a tv that has only hdmi 1.4 or thru a device such the fury Integral to a 2.2 hdcp tv\hdmi 2.0 ?
….and I got these two replies

first
You can access the HDMI IN function by 2 pressing YELLOW button.”
Second
We do not mention the HDMI IN on our webpage since this function is not efficient
So, we do not recommend to use it”

Well I wrote them again
Any way can you tell me what was supposed to do \ allow even if it’s not working as it should ?
Is it really working at all?
I must say one of the reasons of my choice to buy one was concerned with that input.
(…) So I asked them also finally this:
Why was it left of without a firmware fix until now .

If it happens to be a possible fix the real value of the machine would raise a lot. So why this ? ”
Any one here has a clue about this?
Can you or any one explain why this behavior
(well it seems the same, since once again they don’t mention that feature or show any particular concerns about it once more )
Best regards to you all & keep the faith

The Zidoo X9S and Zappiti share the same chipset. Zidoo has implanted a record function for non copyright content on its HDMI in. Picture in picture as well I think. Zappiti have made no play whatsoever of the capability and it remains to be seen whether it will be used.

I was wondering what is the biggest internal hard drive you can put in the zappiti one? Also what are the max drives for the duo?

After the update subtitles are still on by default. I thought they were going to fix that in this update?

They are writing 8TB. But I see no reason why a 10TB HDD wouldn't work.

BTW: Review is finished in German. I just have to translate in now.

Still awaiting your review. I hope there can also be someone who can compare this with the Zidoo X9S. I'm awaiting for your review to see if maybe I should wait for the Zappiti 4K HDR or go for the Zidoo X9S since it's available on amazon free one day ship.

Edit: Also, as this is of importance to me personally -- most other people won't even care for it, I hope you have tested how it performs with transferring files wirelessly from PC to an external USB HDD attached to the Zappiti 4K HDR. If you haven't touched on it, would it be possible for you to give me some feedback about it? I'd also like to know if I can run 2 external USB HDDs on the single usb 3.0 port of the mini via a hub. Thanks a lot!

That f/w changelog reads a lot like Zidoo's. I gave Zidoo MVC samples using MakeMKV and MKVMerge (as the headers were slightly different), which resulted in them fixing this part...

I wonder if Zidoo is really working on Zappiti's f/w's or possibly if these are really rebranded Zidoo h/w... just comparing changelogs, the wording:

I haven't tried it wirelessly but file transfer works fine using wired. With the player on, type in the IP address into Windows Explorer and you can then handle files as normal from your PC. I transferred an MKV of Inception (30Gb) from the PC to a USB drive connected to the Zappiti and it took seven minutes. You can use the Zappitti Explorer and do it with your remote but its just easier doing it from the PC.

I haven't tried a powered hub but would also like to know.

That sounds great! Thanks for your feedback. I was trying to find more information regarding Zidoo X9S if it allows for writing on the external USB HDD but it seems it needed to be rooted for that. Would be great if Sledgehamma can test out a powered hub on USB 3.0 for us to see if it would work. As soon as I find out all these details (including future Dolby Vision support or lack thereof) I might just put in an order on their website that's supposed to ship out this March. Wish I could find another way to get it in the US sooner though.

Now that movies with DTS:X audio are starting to become more common, i wish Zappiti could add the DTS:X codec option for audio tracks in the synopsis.

I have a passive hub which I can test later.

Due to lack of hardware I can't test that. But they are listing it on their website:

You could import it from the UK. I got a second one off a dealer called Ricky yesterday. He might ship to the States but I've no idea if he does that. He's a good guy well known on the UK forums. As of yesterday he still had some stock.

No, i meant that in Zappiti Media Center, it lacks the DTS:X codec when you want to edit the details for a specific movie title.

Playback of DTS:X movies works just fine with bitstream enabled.

Oi! Thanks for this info! I'll go ahead and contact Ricky and mention you sent me his way. Now all I have to wait for is to read Sledgehamma's review and get more info before I take the plunge. I'm ready for it though. My LG OLED C6 is hungry for an upgrade from WD TV Live Hub.

The Zidoo doesn't have the always activated subtitle issue, does it?
Or, could be that Realtek engineers are doing most of the heavy lifting for Zidoo, Zappiti, Xtreamer & others using this SoC, and the update/fixes text comes from them... which would explain the turnkey manner in which they've supported their chips in the past. Except for minor UI and software differences on top, all should basically share the same features and functions.

Re: subs, no Zidoo's aren't always on, at least with embedded (PGS, SRT) subs. I don't use external subs.

In any case, look forward to your English review; will add link from mine at Kodi forum.

I had a Zidoo X9S and it stuttered on every file I had and had audio dropouts. A hopeless streamer and that was as recently as December.

Whilst they might all use the same chip and features there no point in anyone suggesting that they are essentially the same thing. The Zappiti works unlike the Zidoo which is why I just bought a second. One uses Kodi and the other its own media centre anyway. Very different beasts.

Your issue w/stuttering and audio dropouts is not a common issue I've read about. Audio dropouts were there in f/w 1.2.7, but have been fixed in the latest v1.2.10. I'm not dismissing your X9S issues, but there may be other factors causing them (set-up, unit itself, certain settings not jiving together).

Unlikely since other media players seem ok in setup. Even the ancient WDTV played virtually all my media with no issue. Read some of the Amazon customer reviews and the UK AV forums site. What I experienced others have to.

That aside I've been sat here for the last four hours watching a bluray, a DVD and an MP4 with no issue whatsoever on the Zappiti.

I just installed the new 3.0.4 fw on my One player and tested some movies. I can report that the display effect of external subtitles have improved hugely! I use external .srt files solely for my movie collection consisting of MKVs and i always thought the subtitles looked kind of jagged before but after installing the update, the text is now very smooth and clear.
Well done Zappiti!

@sutton8 , not sure what to suggest... maybe try doing a clean install w/image of the latest f/w on your Zidoo.
