Any Audio Request owners out there that can comment on the sound quality? The S-N ratio seems low (83db) compared to the Dell player (103db?). What DACs does this thing use?

I do not know about the DACs it uses, but I can not tell the difference between if it playing a CD or a ripped song. I used the default record settings also. My wife and I just love the unit and it's ease of operation.

What are the default settings? So, are you saying it doesn't sound as good as CD at the default? I wouldn't use the builting ripper, just upload all my pre-ripped VBR mp3s to it.

mrwilson: I was saying that we can not tell the difference between a CD or this unit when it ripps a CD to the harddrive at the default setting of 128 Kbps.
