Hi!
Does anyone have any information about this player?
I found it in two swedish webbstores but i can't find any information in the developers site.
Links to the swedish sites.

Basically it's the Tvix 5000 in a different case.

The japanese manual mentions 2 versions.....TViX M-4000S & TViX M-4000P.... the S version taking a SATA drive and the P taking an IDE drive.

Check out the new TViX HD M-4000P at the official DVICO-website: crap, I can't make a link, because I'm a new member.. So, it's like the M-5000A, with the outer look of the M-3100U, but has a different remote (pitty).

I like this form factor a LOT better.

Are there any places in the USA which carry this model already?

Wow I'm with Axel... I do like this form factor better... and I don't know about the 5000's remote, but this remote is pretty!

Still no wireless?

I'll third the sentiment about the form-factor... it is definitely much improved over the coffee can version! I don't care as much about wireless because I live in a big apartment building with cluttered b/g bands. I have to use wired regardless. What I do worry about is stability...

Can anyone confirm that this player has the same internals/firmware of the 5000U series? It took a good while before it was performing up to snuff but the constant stream of firmware updates have really turned it into a pretty decent box. I would hate to start from scratch with the 4000U...

Also, is the 4000U supposed to be cheaper than the 5000U? It was my understanding that TVIX will soon be releasing the 5101U that adds support for H.264/AVC. I'm hoping that it will fill the pricepoint of the current line and be even higher in price. If so, it would make sense that the 4000U retails for less.... maybe $250-$300?

The TViX 4000 will retail for less than the 5000U. Money will be saved by adding a cheaper remote for instance. (of which I have a very detailed picture, but I am not able to post a link to it, because I'm a new member )

mathijs asked me to post this... Great pic by the way!

BTW, after 5 posts you can add links and images. I think you can just do three more fake posts and then go back and delete them...

So I get the idea that people are really fond of the M-5000's remote... what's so great about it? I thought it was a bit gawdy, but I never owned it. This 4000 remote is sexy.

The most significant difference is that M5000A may eventually get a HDTV tuner add-on (crossing fingers), there are no such options on the M4000.

Will digital connection be carrying the M4000U? If so, when do you expect it in and what will the price be? Thanks.

Matt;
You must have read my mind. I had the exact same questions for Kei when I saw her post.

Kei, any chance you could share some insights with us?

Thanks!

OK Kei,
Can you give us any feedback on the tuner hardware you are testing for dvico?
I have several feature requests for the tuner (some very simple, some maybe not so simple)
When can we order the tuner-I need 2?

Axel,

Not definite yet, but I've been told that it will ship this month. Hopefully we'll get something more concrete in the next few days including ETA and price.

Please enlighten me. Why would you want to put an HD tuner in a media player connected to a TV which has an HD tuner?

the tuner turns the "player" into a recorder also.

The TV tuner will allow you to record programs. Effectively turning the 5000 into a DVR. (i.e. basic tivo)

I've got a Comcast DVR already so I doubt I would use this but it is a neat feature for many people.

Cool. Is there room for a DVD drive? then you'd have everything in one box.

Out of interest, Divco said that the unit will be shipping in Europe from the end of this month...I love the M-5000A so I might buy one due to the better form factor...

Yesterday I asked the following (my Q&A of DVICO):

Can you add the Dutch language to the firmware or future firmware of the M-4000P?

Thank you for your time!

Mathijs

I got the following answer:

About M4000P,
The firmware of M4000P will be same as M5000A. Currently, M5000 does not have an option for Dutch, but I believe you can see the Dutch characters without problem. We can add Dutch option, but we need the request from our Sales. I will check but I am not sure we will add or not.

Eric

I guess this answer includes the answer you wanted to hear

As of yesterday:

http://www.tvix.co.kr/ENG/boards/Pre...temid=301&pg=1

I'm looking forward to it! I got a wireless game adapter, and it should hook right up to this guy and give me a wireless connection for the TViX. Now I can have the best without any regrets!

From the press release:
"....The suggested retail price for the Dvico TVIX 4000, excluding the hard disk drive is USD$*** is shipping from 20th November 2006. ..."

Hmmm, what is the price...?

Also it says it is already shipping. Any place one can purchase it in the US? Kei?

I contacted DViX USA. Here is their reply:

"We should have the pricing and the availability in about 2 weeks.

Please check back with us in mid December.

Jason
TViX USA"

Looks like I have to be patient....

I also contacted Digital Connection via email, but still have not heard back from them.

I heard back from DC:

"Dear Axel,

Thank you for your inquiry. We received word from DVICO that they will be ready to ship the new model by Dec. 6, so we hope to have these available in about a week. We will start a pre-buy later today.

Best Regards,
Customer Service
Digital Connection"

This is great news!

I think I like the form factor of the "coffee can" much better, hehe. Far cooler!

Besides, I like the way the HD tuner attaches to the bottom of the new TViX 5101 as you can see here:

http://www.tvix.co.kr/Eng/boards/Pre...itemid=278&pg=

Cool and uncluttered.
