Chris

Ya for some reason when I drug the file from my laptop to the internal mvix drive it didn't like it. I called support and they suggested I use a thumbdrive to update from and that finally worked.

Latest reply from MVIX on continued problems with .ts files:

"If it is possible, please upload a sample TS file to an FTP or fileshare server
so we can download and test. Please rest assured this will get the attention of
our development team ASAP.

Thanks for the help Squire, that is a great place to host files.

I managed to upload a couple .ts files that show the frame drop stutter, but it seems that I can't reproduce the audio glitches or the video reset in midstream with these smaller samples. (I joined the two sample .ts files in the exact place of the reset on the full movie)

It appears that around 4gb into the .ts is when it resets to the start of the video. So I'll have to upload a 5gb sample file for the devs. Mediafire seems to ignore the 5gb file I attempt to upload. Maybe I'll send them a dvd if all else fails.

Ya, i got an invalid or unsupported format error as well. Yet it plays fine with VLC media player. I sent that file to them with a link to this thread as well. Let's hope they take a peek in here.

BTW, that sample is funny as hell... even if I don't understand it.

With 1.0.9 installed, the flawless playback is now replaced by the infamous dropped frame stutter problem. And the Null Packet Stripper joined .ts files have a much worse stutter than with the default 1.0.0 firmware.

I'm depressed.

Hi Guys,

just two questions. I don´t have the device but would like to get it.

Is it possible to rotate pictures while watching and does the device play m3u-playlists? I would like to use the device mainly as mp3 and photo storage and playback.

When watchin movies they will be .iso,.avi files and some divx, I believe they should work.

So if m3u and rotating of pictures is okay. I will go for it.

greets

Yagode

I just tested an m3u playlist and it works great. I'm not sure about rotating pictures. Right now the image viewer feature doesn't seem that great.

Isos and avi files should be no problem tho.

Thanks for the info. Sounds great. I read through the manual and it didn´t say anything about rotating pictures.

Can anyone comment on that feature?

Would be great.

Anyone using this unit to stream DVD .ifo or .iso from an Infrant ReadyNAS?

I've got a Zensonic Z500 and Helios X3000 and they either suck at this (Z500 doesn't play half my films) or simply don't support it (X3000).

I am looking for rock solid reliability of .ifo and .iso ...getting ready to revert back to HTPC to get this experience, but I am still holding out hope for the Z500 1.6 firmware that is to be released end of the month.

antivirus - great job!

This sounds too good to be true! I looked at your site, but my german is sorely lacking and even with translation I was lost. Can you point directly to the firmware package?

Can you post a link to the source ? What did you use to build it up? I'd love to take a crack at the UI, there has to be a way to add thumbnails to files.

Any one had luck trying this yet?

Wow, i'm impressed... A good feature to add would be maybe seamless playback of segmented movie files. Would H-264 file support be asking too much? :P What kinda features could you add?

Unfortunately, the Mvix designers used a the EM8621L and not the EM8623L, the 21L doesn't support H.264 decoding.

Check the sigma designs site for the EM8620L Series and look at the back of the product brochure (I can't post a link here yet until I post a few more times).

It looks like these are pin compatible though ... I wonder if they could be swapped if they were available (reasonably)? or maybe they'll offer an upgrade later if enough folks scream for it.

The raw .ts files i have captured from my cable box via firewire seem to playback smoother than .ts files I download. With the current firmware they all have dropped frames and reset after 4gb for some reason.

antivirus,

I was able to download everything but "mixv_romfs_telnet.gz". I'm not sure why. IE7 says the site is unavailable when I try to "save target as". What does this file do? Is it necessary?

I didn't have any problems with "mvix_romfs.gz", "readme_first.txt" and "tftp_desktop_free.exe".

Thanks, Chris

Yeah, hats off to you AntiVirus! Thanks for gracing us with your time and abilities.

I'm so tempted to buy this device, but they seem to be coming thick and fast at the moment - I don't want to be kicking myself if a better one is round the corner. Does anyone know anywhere that might have the lowdown on future devices of this kind?

I'd be happy if it truely fixes the problems with fast forward hanging the box. I've had that happen more times than I care to recall.

Cool.. fixed problem with mylist. That annoyed me that after disconnecting from the network, it still showed all the files from the server. Hate having all the porn show up when disconnected ;-)
