I've read a lot about how 1080p doesn't give performance advantage on smaller TVs (e.g., 40"). Does anyone know what is an ideal size TV for display of 480p? At what TV size does 480p max out where there isn't enough resolution to fill the screen appropriately for say a viewing distance of 6 feet. Is 40" well within the bounds of a strong 480p resolution, or would a 32" be a better size for 480p display?

Ok, sure, but keep in mind that you'll see SDE on every LCD or plasma between 30 and 65 inches if it's 720p and doubly so at 480p regardless of the resolution of the source. There is no SDE with 1080p no matter the screen size or source.

It isn't the size of the disk that counts, but how you use it.

It's simply being able to see the pixels

But the above guy said isn't true, SDE is visible depending on the size of the TV and your viewing distance. No matter what resolution

At what size and viewing distance do you notice a difference between 720p and 1080p?

On a 50" within 4 ft or so I can see SDE on a 720. On a 1080 it'd have to be 60" or bigger for me to see SDE at about the same distance. It also depends on your vision, mine isn't all that great
