I don't think anyone outside of Vizio has seen the M801D yet.

I have looked at both extensively. The sharp is much brighter with better contrast ratio 12m to 10m and has the aquamotion 960. Vizio actually buys their panels from sharp. I waited to compare them myself. The sharp is actually cheaper too. http://www.alltimetvs.com/ if your willing to go that route. The vizio screen is also matted as well so it gives off a duller picture. Not sure why they used that screen.. I have 2 vizios myself. A 240 55in and a 3d 65 and I am buying the sharp tomorrow.

http://www.alltimetvs.com/ Good luck with that one!!!! Tried to buy a DSLR camera from them. Like the price on the TV, the camera price was way lower than everyone else. I placed my order and got a confirmation E-mail sent to me with the invoice. After a few minutes my phone rang and some guy with a heavy accent from alltimetvs.com tried to sell me extra batteries, memory cards, service plans, etc all which were way overpriced. I kept telling him I was not interested and he would argue with me. Finally he said he had to add $50.00 to my order. I told him the order has already gone through and I have the invoice and I will not pay more than what was advertised. He said you still will not find it cheaper anywhere else and said he will have to add $50.00 to the order. I told him to cancel my order and hung up on him. Try finding it at a reputable dealer for cheap. $4999 at Sears, $4854 at best buy. About the best I can find is CDW $4,283.99. Costco has the Sharp LC80C6500U NO 3D 120HZ 4,000,000:1 for $3,899.99. That is the same price they are selling the Vizio 3D, 240Hz, 10,000,000:1 for. Walmart has the Vizio for $3,798.00. As far as the matted screen, glossy screens are GREAT for dark rooms and do show colors better and have a sharper image. But add some light to the room; lamps, windows, etc you get a bad glare. Matted is just more particle for a living room.

Did you ever order this unit? If not, what did you get and how did it work out for you?
