Didn't D-Nice say the shootout sample also had red tint on the sides?

I think it can only be seen with slides, not with actual content.

^ as with most things you are right. But it wouldn't be AVS if we didn't concern ourselves with things we can neither see nor hear.

Does anyone know what Backlight setting was used in the shootout for dim lighting?

Hi everyone,

So I bought a 55ec9300 yesterday. It was a floor model that the guy at the store told us had just been put on the floor and since we wanted one as soon as possible, we went for it. We did check at home however and the TV has been used for 293 hours so that hardly seems like it had just been put on the floor.

We were watching Thin Red Line today on the TV and I noticed that it seemed in some of the scenes with sand and sky, the left edges seemed to be more bluish in tone while the sand middle area of the screen seemed closer to the right tones.

So after we finished watching the film, we decided to put in a calibration DVD. As soon as we got to the white calibration slide, we immediately noticed an unevenness in the color on the screen with a more yellowish white in the middle spreading out to a more purplish tone on both edges. It looks very similar to both pictures discussed on the last page, except we can definitely see it in person, unlike the previous poster. We've noticed this elsewhere as well, like the LG menus. I've attached the picture below.

Is this normal? From all the standard viewing angles, we can definitely see this unevenness. It seems rather terrible to be honest, considering that I expect white to just look white.

If it isn't normal, what should I do? Does it have anything to do with the store using it as a floor model perhaps? We would ideally like to talk to them ASAP about it if it is so any help or information you guys can provide would be amazing.

That doesn't look super bad, but I'd none the less exchange it for one with better uniformity.

First off I want to apologize if I "jumped into this thread" incorrectly by posting a reply. I have a new question for you folks and I AM DESPERATE FOR HELP AND ADVICE!!! I just purchased a 55EC9300 and can not connect to my wi-fi. I have an Apple Express wireless router and have talked to four different LG reps who can not resolve the problem. Since I have internet to my Oppo Blu-ray player I really don't need to duplicate apps but THE BIGGEST CONCERN I HAVE is if I do not connect it to the internet and do not download the new firmware and software will if affect any performance issues when watching tv using my Directv receiver or my blu-ray player? If it will have no bearing on those applications then getting new software and firmware for use with "the smart features" do not bother me that much. PLEASE HELP!! I can't get a straight answer on that question from the LG folks on that question.:

Vikkiandkurt,

Post your question in the LG 55EC9300 Owners thread. You'll get a lot more eyeballs on it there. This thread is kinda moot now.
