Ok, Panasonic ZT60 is still the best TV in the world, but Panasonic and Sony are answering with new top models.
I want to buy a TV with Reference Black Levels, pristine picture 2k and 4k (not rubbish 2k like the first 4k tv's that came to the market).
And i am about to compare these 2 sets, despite the fact i don't know much about Sony building quality, i don't know if Panasonic is more ahead in time...
Once i had a Sony LCD X40, one of the first Sony Full HD, and the picture on SD was awful with lots of motion problems and blur.
Panasonic is going to install on the new AX900 their Studio Master Panel and this sounds so good...
I don't think it's my opinion only, the reviews and many prestigious magazines tell the same.
Can you mention a 4k TV with such blacks, rich colors, perfect motion and that quality at 1080p?
But i didn't opened this thread to make a war Plasma vs. LED, i don't even have a ZT60 but i saw it working several times, it's amazing.
I am yes looking for a new TV and considering those 2. Maybe some people say "...if you want the same blacks as plasma wait for OLED...." Well those are opinions also.
Panasonic says they are going to use a Master Panel in their AX900 as they did in the ZT60, the results i don't know but picture should be really close.
And my main concern in all of this is the performance of the TV's in 1080p....will they perform as a fully optized 1080p only TV? Or the manufacturer will give more importance to 4k and leave that behind?
I agree that it is your opinion the ZT is the best TV in the world. Many prefer the last gen Kuro, many prefer the Samsung 8500 plasma and many prefer the latest OLEDs over the ZT.
As for which of those TVs you mention, I'd guess the AX900 will be the far superior set. That S9 seems like it is just a curved 900B and no way the edge lit 900B tops the full array AX900. I expect the AX900 price will be way up there though so keep that in mind.
If you can wait a few months, you will have much better options.
Right now, if you buy an AX900 or the Sony, you will be paying a huge premium for an already obsolete technology -- that, BTW, was always second fiddle tech to plasma. You might have a burning case of buyer's remorse the moment you see the 65" LG OLED's this fall.
If I were buying a TV this year, I would wait on the LG OLED's. Not only is it going to be the best TV in the world at its size, but its arrival will force Sony and Panasonic to drastically slash their LED prices. So even if you decide that the burn-in issue is a deal-breaker for you, I suspect you'll still get a much better deal on an LED in a few months.
Tanks guys, i will wait then.
But i am not a fan of the brand LG to be honnest. Will OLED be available from other brands?
So OLED has brighter colors and better blacks than Plasma?
I think we should really consider the screen size. OLED will be quite expensive if you go over 65". LED's prices are coming down and you can get a good size TV as well. I guess will come do you need a larger TV or the best PQ...It will be personal.
