The anticipation is killing me. Anybody know a date of arrival for these panels?

Nope. I'm waiting for one as well, but it's a good wait. It's allowing me to learn more, get all the connectors and cables ready, etc. :)

I love it!!! Just bought more (MC) Matsushita, parent company of Panasonic. Hopefully the delays are the result of strong orders
and not production problems.

There is no difference in HDMI cables. If you can see the picture without visible dropouts or sparklies, the cable is working at 100%. No other cable will display a better version of that picture. You're simply wrong if you think there is a better digital cable than one that is already working.

I've heard from one of my suppliers that units are coming in. These will most likely just fill the slew of backorders, but if you have one on order you could be lucky.

Also, it will take a few days for warehouses to get these things out too.

Well I ordered mine on December 10th, so I better be one of the lucky people who get one. Are they coming in this week?

Maybe all you Panny seekers should look at JVC. The 42 and 50 inch plasma units are OEM'd for JVC by Panasonic. Any interested in more information should PM me.

Thanks and good luck.

I'm in the same boat. I'm in the top 3 of a backorder list for a pwd6uyat an online vendor (I hope they're not just saying that to string me along).

They were expecting some pannys to arrive around 1/8, but they have not received any yet.

The price I'll be paying delivered is under $3k. It looks like some might be available at other vendors for about $3,300 delivered, but I've waited this long so I'm going to try to tough it out for another couple of weeks.

The problem is some of us have the Panasonic on backorder for a ludicrously low price. We could have jumped months ago for a similar panel, but we would have paid. The dilemma in a nutshell.

There is no difference in HDMI cables. If you can see the picture without visible dropouts or sparklies, the cable is working at 100%. No other cable will display a better version of that picture. You're simply wrong if you think there is a better digital cable than one that is already working.

The backorder situation is also hard to decipher. I've heard (don't hold me to this) that some vendors placed large orders, like 100 units or more, but they don't have legit orders for all the units. So, when inventory lands there will be a shuffle of units to make sure legitimate orders are addressed. Again, this is just one scenario I've heard.

double booking? That could (and rightfully should) be frowned upon by Panasonic.

Again, my disclaimer: this is a rumor I heard about, but it might not be totally accurate. The orders are generally placed with the distributors.

Hello all,

I just placed my panny order yesterday with Visual Apex. Expected delivery in mid february. Do you think there will be any significant price drops between now and then? If so, I wonder if VA will honor the current pricing.

Thanks to all in this forum. Without being able to read about your experiences, I would never have learned of the industrial model's existence, or even considered the merits of EDTV.

Well Flavius, hopefully it comes soon - not like there's anything else to do in Po-town, except a drink or 10 at the Mad Hatter. [I grew up in hopewell junction and my folks used to have a computer store in poughkeepsie - I couldn't run away fast enough].

You're right, IVB. Nothing in Po-town, but its perfect for introverted, media loving, tech geeks like me. :) Cable modem now, and new stores popping up left and right. All Rt. 9 is becoming one big mall. :) Plus you can take a train to the city... better than the backwoods I grew up in! What place do you now like better than here, out of curiousity? Huge cities are fun to visit, but wouldn't want to live in one, been there, done that.

you "jest" about the earthquake, but it has crossed my mind. I have an empty table stand waiting for my dell 6UY. I may have to get "creative" to make sure it doesn't tip...

Can a retailer vent here to? Damn Panasonic and their darn allocation issues. Don't they know us retailers need to pay the bills, and customers need to play with these plasmas?

:)

Seriously, we're hearing allocation is starting to loosen up for some of the models. The ED models still are ugly, but we've recently received some HD models as well as 50inchers, so hopefully the ED models aren't too far away!

My TH-42PWD6UY from the "ludicrously low price" sale just came two days ago. :) So, they're coming in. BTW, mine was made in Japan.

I'm going to assume he was talking about the Dell coupon deal. The 42" ED Panny was available for a minimum $2150 or so. This is what I got mine for but I was STOOPID and changed to a different brand which has since been returned. Now I am waiting for them to come back in stock at the popular online vendors for roughly $800 more.

<--- kicks self in the pants.

For those that want to ask if that price is still good. It is not and more than likely won't ever be.
